In about two turns a lone galleon from Russia will appear in the northeast area of my island. I lost the save to the original picture but this is just as good (I think). Tell me if this works cuz this is my first game save uploaded so I do not know how to officially do it. Also, don't take this save as how I generally play. I was just seeing what islands was like so that is why it is a little cr*ppy. If you can tell me how I can load game saves from the internet like this one and how to run it on Civ4 I would greatly appreciate it.
 
Hi, I got another one with a picture which I now have loaded.

Panels behind panels is what is has been called by others and I have a solution for it and the picture.

Steps to do:
1. Start up a game where you have already established contact with other leaders.
2. Click on the scoreboard to meet a leader of your choose.
3. While still on the main leader screen alt-tab out of the game to something else (like Civfanatics.com:)) and later enter back into the game.
4. As a result you will see the leader head and the bottom three buttons which unfortunately include "good bye" are blocked off.

To fix:
1. Hit ctrl-W.
2. This should take you to worldbuilder where there is no panel that blocks the leader panel allowing you to click the goodbye button.
3. With the leader panel gone just exit worldbuilder and resume the game as normal.

In addition, some people posted other ways to fix it on the panelbehindpanel thread which I have currently forgotten how to do.

Also, does my save game work? I hope it does to dispell word of it being fake. I still am waiting on an answer to my question and would still greatly appreciate it.

No conquest victory on duel size map.

I was trying ot get a very fast conquest: Duel, pangea, settler difficulty, high water.
Played Rome, destroyed opponent in 3640 BC, game log record that opponent is destroyed but game does not end.

Dude, you need this game... being from Red Sox nation myself, I find myself playing so much because the Sox season is over, the Patriots just aren't the Patriots this year, Celtics(does larry still play>?), Bruins(rich crybabies)no Neely?... in any case, this game is keeping me sane at the moment, at least I can have a winning streak!
 
I've posted this bug earlier (page 4), but because i got no response i show
you here a very clear picture of the problem. I start the game and get this:

I retired and checked that i'm left at the edge of the map. Maybe the bug
has to do with my videocard Nvidia GF4 MX440.

Wow, I wish I had that bug in MP!

Anyway, another bug is that the 'Alt-D' feature to change your Civ's profile in game does not work in PBEM. This has so far been 100% able to be reproduced by me, since every PBEM game I've been in it hasn't work. Supposedly, you are able to press Alt-D and change your Player's name, password and email address, but it doesn't work. This one is a real pain because there is another bug which I have yet to identify which keeps changing my name every time I host a PBEM game! No matter what I input for my name, it forces my name in game to be "bigjmoney".

Patch v1.08 is out! To get it, load your game and select Advanced, then "Check for Updates". It will automatically download + update your game (beware: it's 25 megabytes).

This should fix numerous bugs - for a changelog, look here. Let me know if there are any bugs I can take off. Right now I'll take off the Ironworks. I hope some of the games work for you now!

If you can't get the game to load (hence can't update your game), wait a bit, the patch should be able to be downloaded online soon.

It's apparently pulled till 11/29
 
Guess what, I have another bug but this time it is from the Earth scenario.

I call it the "Stupid Southpole is visable from the Northpole on minimap and big map when it shouldn't be" bug.

Basically, start up an Earth scenario game and head towards the Northpole and you should see the very bottom of the Southpole on the minimap and on the big map when you scroll down there.

Lastly, does the save work or not? I would really like to know because I want to join a succesion game later and I know posting saves is extremely important and I want to know if I did it right and also to help patch makers solve this problem in the future when they actually decide to release the patch and not just take it away in like an hour.

When I posted it, it wasn't a false alarm. An hour or so after I posted it was pulled. I've edited that post.


TheCondor: I can't test your save as I don't have Civ4 yet. Maybe someone else can. I think those are all related to your video card, not the game.
 
Oh, :blush: thought you did. Also, this has happened to other people on another thread in the bug forum.
 
Ok, guys, the new patch is now out (v1.09). Available in game from the Advanced screen ("Check for Updates"). If the game doesn't even load for you, hence you can't get the patch, it should be available from 2K's website soon. Good luck to those that download it, and let me know if some of these bugs are fixed. :)
 
New patch doesnt work. I just 55 turns left on a huge map it CTD - again.

Yield display problem is fixed for me in v1.09. :D

However, floodplains are still visible through fog.

Movies are choppier now, although it might just be my imagination.
 
Thanks good news chunkymonkey - I'll just wait for someone else to confirm before I 'hide' it.

This is extremely good for me however. When I downloaded the demo, I had the yield display and floodplain problems, so it is good to know that one of them will be fixed. :)

edit: Also, for those that can't download the patch in game if it won't load, you can now get it here online.

just tested 'my' bug with the new patch. Now, the health bar seems to have been replaced with those beacons on top of the flag. During the fight, the flag isn't visible, hence can't tell the outcome any longer via health bar. Sounds good so far, but unfortunately, the exp points in the left bottom corner (that's where the details of the unit appear, jumps immediately once the fight commences. Thus, the battle outcome is still known beforehand :(

Those beacons on top of the flag indicate how many units are in the stack. Two dots = two units, three dots = three units and so on up to about eight or nine dots. The health bar is disabled when you patch; you have to enter the options menu and re-enable it.

:blush: ok ok, but that simply means that this issue hasn't even been touched at all. I wonder that nobody really cares. I really liked combat in Civ3 and it would be nailbiting at times seeing your unit go red before it still pulls a win.

Here, the battle animation has no meaning (in my native language we would say 'fuern Arsch').

Hope a later patch will fix this. Generally I have to say that battles and especially enemy movement is pretty awkward.
