This one is funny, when I effectively upgrade an unit it dispaly an animation similar to the one I will have by earning experience (except it like +41XP instead of +5 XP).

However, no new promotion (fortunately) is avalailable for this unit on the next turn

I have this too, I THINK it's because the abilities of units are treated as promotions, so a new unit type gives it new abilities and incorrectly displays the amount of XP get those abilities IF they were promotions.

I'm not sure that's it, as I think I've seen different values when upgrading two of one unit into another (don't quote me on that, though). My speculation was that the game was adding a new unit and immediately granting it however much XP the previous unit had. But I'll admit I haven't looked into it too closely.

That's also a valid theory. I'm deffo not the one to do the math. It's a bug that it's displayed in any case if you ask me.

I did the math. Confirmed. It basically creates a new unit and gives it the amount of XP the original unit had. I thought it was kinda cool, actually.

Yeah, I just tested it in my game as well. Upgraded unit gets the XP the old unit had.

Save attached if anyone cares. Find the Knight near Kyoto. He has 15 XP, upgrade him and the new Cavalry will have a floating +15. This appears to be true whether he has spent his promotions yet or not.
