I've encountered a rather interesting situation with a relatively early city that I plonked in the middle of 4 alien nests, to try to befriend the aliens: harmony style.

(cant post attachments at the moment, due to the database unable to login nonsense)

I have not researched the xenomass well improvement (alien sciences), and these 4 nests are not improved, so there should be no xenomass in my network. The 4 nests have a total of 21 xenomass listed.

However, I have 9 listed available in my network (there are no other xenomass nodes inside my territory from other cities) and the AI has actually asked for some of it in trade, so I know it is not a display error.

  • 4 Nests with xenomass underneath, all inside my city's territory.
  • I should have 0 xenomass available.
  • If I developed the tiles with wells, I should have 21.
  • I actually have 9.

Unless there are some strange ways to get partial yields out of the nests, i think this is not working correctly?

Sorry about the login problem. Would you be able to create a new account for temporary use, so you can post the save?

have seen this in Maddjinns lp's where a nest inside your territory gives you the xenomass on some of the nests, depending on when the nest was first in your borders... It was in the KP play.

Sure thing:

Build is 1.0.0.574

I have attached a save from the screenshot (turn 82), as well as one from 50 turns later (132) where i'm just starting to clear the nests and put wells on the nodes (I also have a well attached to another city at this stage).

A couple of things to note:

  • I have tested succesfully trading away the xenomass to AIs.
  • The xenomass allows me to qualify to build buildings that require developed xenomass (like the xenofuel plant/xenonursery)

How I believe this problem occurred:

I'm pretty sure I cleared 2 of the nests (if it was the 7 & one of the 2 ones that would make sense) while they were in my territory, or directly before I settled there. The nests then respawned inside my territory due to miasma on the xenomass tile.

I don't have a save from before the problem occurred, unfortunately.

Ok: I've just been able to re-create the bug consistently on the turn 132 save so you can see the before/after on that same turn.

Purchasing a tile with an alien nest already on it results in the xenomass automatically being added to your network, without a well being built.

Load up the turn 132 save, purchase the alien nest (7 xenomass) tile near my Aintza city (east), and your xenomass total immediately goes up by 7.

If you then clear the nest, the xenomass stays effectively connected, though you probably arent paying the 2 energy maintenance for the well, since you arent getting the bonus yields either.

I'd add "reproducible" to the thread name, but I used a guest account for the OP, so no go. If an admin gets a chance, could you modify the title for me? :P

edit: thanks whoever did it :)

nests giving Xenomass when within your territory is not a bug, but an intended feature.

Wow ok: that I did not know :P I assumed that was the actual bug. woops!

But still, Cam is right: half are connected, and half are not, there's something inconsistent with the behaviour here.

I should have all 21, if they are meant to always connect the xenomass.
