Bugs1 - The League of Ordinary Gentlemen

Since we already have seven sign ups, eight if you include gormdragan, I'll make two games, a PTW and a C3C. It will be an interesting comparison between the two. I am especially interested because I suspect (and I think a lot of other people do to) that C3C plays a bit easier for the human given the contact trading restriction.

I must once again respectfully disagree. Little additions like SoZ, phil bonus tech, ToA, ect can go either way(hurt us or help us depending on who gets them. And since we'll be building up our early military far too much to even think about an early wonder, and getting out researched at the same time........ they will most likely bite us in the ass.) so we'll leave them out.

However contact restrictions don't mean much on a Gea, but in a war filled game not being able to rush Wonders with GLs will have a very profound impact on this variant. I think C3C will play much more difficult on this variant.

*Also RowAndLive replied on the first page with intrest, but said he didn't have C3C so he'd have to pass. Pencil him in on the end of the PTW team & drop him a PM whenever you get a chance to see if he's still intrested.*

I think the Iroquois are out too since their traits are Commercial and Argicultural in C3C.

I think we should avoid the palace in Hawaii exploit that has been outlawed in GOTM. Suicide galleys shouldn't be an issue since we'll play on a pangaea.

I think the trading has to be within reason. Obviously the WM for WM & steam trade could be considered the lady telling you a joke.
I'm thinking of the situation where you ask what she would need in exchange for CB and she responds Alphabet, Masonry & 10G. You would be a gentleman and say that sounds reasonable.

We will need to find a civ for us that hasn't changed from [ptw] to [c3c].

I like yoshi's idea of renaming Caesar to Cassanova.

I added gozpel and RowandLive to the [ptw] team.

I think we'll close the teams at six members each.

We need to decide on our civ. It appears that it is down to these:

Rome (Caesar renamed to Cassanova)
America
Greece
Persia

Male aggressors:

Aztec
Japanese (Vikings are seafaring in C3C and won't work here)
Zulu
Mongols
Germans
Arabs
Persia or Rome (if not us)

Persia- strong traits and an untouchable UU.

sidenote-
Greece: strong UU, Com is weak. My 2nd choice.
Rome: strong UU, but Com/Mil are weak in conquests. 3rd choice.
America: the best traits IMHO for us, however the UU is so dumpy it gets the backseat.

[edit- plus do you really want to be forced to declare war on Xerxes & his army of immortals early in the game?? ]

Tribes with male leaders in PTW that did not change traits to C3C:

Tribe UU Traits
Greek Hoplite Commercial & Scientific
Korea Hwacha Commercial & Scientific
Ottoman Siphai Industrious & Scientific
Persian Immortal Industrious & Scientific
German Panzer Militaristic & Scientific
Babylonian Bowman Religious & Scientific
Indian War Elephant Commercial & Religious
Arabian Ansar Warrior Expanionist & Religious
Japanese Samurai Militaristic & Religious
Roman Legionary Militaristic & Commercial
Zulu Impi Militaristic & Expanionist
Mongols Keshik Militaristic & Expanionist
Chinese Rider Militaristic & Industrious
American F-14 Industrious & Expanionist

The only offensive AA UU are the Immortal & the Legionary as I don't count the Bowman or Impi as offensive units. Both require iron, so it's Scientific & Industrious or Militaristic & Commercial.

For me, I think the Mongols, Koreans, Babylonians and Zulu are not a good fit for this. The Americans would be a good fit for the traits, but the UU sucks.

So for me it comes down to Rome & Persia. I'm playing one as Persia now (though we're losing), so I vote for Rome (my next GOTM 29 target).

Rome or America - strong UU vs scouts

One of these would be nice. We will have to work a little bit harder without the free techs and I'm always up for a challenge.

I can't decide what's best though. A strong unit may be needed in AA and Legionaires are good at both offense and defense.

Then scouts may help us to find other civs early and trip GH's, so usually that unit helps us to stay at par.

Changed my mind, I'd rather have scouts and faster workers than Legions. The Roman traits aren't much help at all for this game, while American traits would help a lot.

We'll just have to hope Persia isn't our neighbor. Besides, if Babylon can beat Persia on diety with those silly Bowmen, we should be able to handle them on Emperor.

So America gets my vote.

Official Election Results Post (visit back often to see the results)

America - 3 (Denyd, gozpel, Bede)
Rome - 2 (Grahamiam, yoshi)
Persia - 2 (Gengis, Bugs)
Undecided - 1 (Ankka)

So what's your vote bugs?

I think I'm leaning towards Persia for the UU and the scientific trait, although I like America for the scouts which could be huge on a pangaea.

Scouts are nice, but productive isn't as good as before, and facing lots of war the military trait might be usefull.

I would say rome.

I made up my mind. Since we want pangea, scouts are very valuable, so America get my vote.

I'm gonna pass on this one - I'm in 1 too many SGs right now...

Great, that means I've moved up to the lead off spot. So much pressure, can't cope, gonna go AHHHHH! *runs off screaming*

Well back to standing outside the voting booth, passing out money for votes for Persia.;)

Persia in nice alright, but they are way over-powered.

Go for a challenge for once and chose America. No unit and no science skip.

Chicken games are played on regent.

Bede votes for Abe.
