The Celts would be ok in C3C (not PTW), their UU is quite good for the new price and I've not played a agricultural Civ yet so that would be new and religious is always a good trait.
Edit: Greeks are also quite nice with the Hoplite for defense, yet if we have to take a city back for one of the ladies, I'd prefer a attacking UU (Celtic Swordsman/Immortal/Mounted Warrior)

Yea, I assumed the Gallic would be nice. Never tried him though.
Maya would also be a very strong civ for us, Ag(always a extreamly strong trait) and Exp(would be very strong on a Large Gea) with a scouting UU to get all the huts & make contacts quickly.
[edit- Did gorm express an intrest before he left? If so we can put him down on our team & run with a man short till he gets back. Looks like there will be 2 teams going anwways.

After much consideration, I think Emperor would be a good level for this game. That would make it challenging enough, while not making it impossible.

if you get 2 teams going, i'll be interested. also, did you consider goverment types? I don't think LOG's would pop rush, do you? Actually, a chivalrus (is that a word?) civ would probably be a monarchy, eh?

Since we already have seven sign ups, eight if you include gormdragan, I'll make two games, a PTW and a C3C. It will be an interesting comparison between the two. I am especially interested because I suspect (and I think a lot of other people do to) that C3C plays a bit easier for the human given the contact trading restriction.
I will try to set up two identical games, so we can compare.
Since that is the case, Theodora is out as one of the ladies.
The Dutch, Portuguese, and Maya are out as our civs.
It sounds like the ladies will be Joan, Cleo, and Isabella.
Denyd has expressed interest in the PTW game. Does anyone else have a preference. RowandLive checked in earlier, I'll PM him to see if he wants to play.

How about the romans as our civ? Can rename they to Italy and our leader to Cassanova Have a great AA UU at least.
(AA UU sounds like i'am in the jungle )

PTW is fine with me. Probably should avoid the Celts now, if you'd like to compare results.
What kind of rules beyond what's been mentioned are you considering (FP corrution bug, suicide galleys, palace transporter...)?
How about Iroquois? Religious & Expansionist allows easy government switch, a scout to find the ladies ASAP and early offense UU to defend them.
