Hey guys,

Anyone else also managed to do this? I play solely on Immortal at the moment and have built both wonders in several games, setting myself up for a comfortable win.

I pulled it off as Russia just recently, with the extra hammers from nearby horses being ultra helpful in boosting production.

Guaranteed religion, + massive growth with Fertility Rites and Swords into Plowshares. Lots of science from growth and managed to be #1 in tech by the Industrial Era (ahead of Korea who was dominating the other half of the map). Got a super fast Great Engineer which I burned on Leaning Tower of Pisa, got another GE from that and got Sistine Chapel. I know it delays first Great Scientist but I think the trade off is worth it!

I notice a lot of times in the 30s-40s turns wonders start popping off from "far away lands".

I can only assume egypt is in the game and I will not ever get any wonders....

FR and SIP are religions belief that considered weaker one.

I also make this mistake when I just started.

Raw + food is always better than %growth. (maybe not if you are Aztec or Inca)
IMO, if you want growth, Feed the World(+1food from shrine & temple) > SIP,
and there are many pantheon belief(goddess of hunt, sun god, etc) > FR.

For the wonders, I also lately value GE > GS because rushing wonders is just too good, even when I am aiming for Science VIctory.

Isn't Fertility Rites still the standard Pantheon to choose when you have nothing else to go for? Eg Desert folklore is taken or not suitable or you don't have any special resources which have a corresponding Pantheon like Tears of the Gods...

Fertility Rites is a consistently good pantheon belief.

In terms of effective food output, you are right that Feed the World is probably better than Swords into Plowshares.

However, if you plan to spread your religion and are playing a peaceful game, Swords into Plowshares can often be a useful choice since the AI's will often war with each other (or you can bribe them to fight each other). In that situation, other players will not be able to benefit from the growth bonus of Swords into Plowshares, whereas they would if you had chosen Feed the World instead.

On Immortal, the GL is usually gone by turn 30. The only early wonders I can grab is the GLH if i'm coastal, and the Colossus.

Yeah I frequently find the AI leave Temple of Artemis long enough for you to snag, though in my experience they love stonehenge on immortal. I typically haven't gotten both, but honestly I hadn't been trying, just assuming I'd only get one ancient wonder and focusing on other things. That's pretty good! :)

On Immortal, I find AI sometimes completes TOA even before another AI completes Great Library.
You have a few more turns before AI builds Stonehenge.

But it's very important at this level to look at what your hammer potential is before deciding to build an early world wonder. If you start is about average hammers; it's probably not worth going for in that game, you need an excellent hammer start.
