Bush Daughters alcoholics?

I find this whole incident of George Bush's teenage daughters being arrested for underage drinking so incredibly funny.

They're looking at a $500 fine, a driver license suspension, community service, and they have to take an alcoholics awarness course or something.

The media is making it out that these teens are abusing alcohol and that they have some sort of problem.

I mean come on.. how many 19 year old people DON'T drink? If they're drinking responsibly then who cares?

I mean if drinking age is 21 there then i guess they deserve the fine. The laws the law. But lets remember that drinking age is just an arbitrary number... In most countries it's far lower than in the US. Drinking age in Canada is 19 for instance.

So when I was 19 I was drinking legally here.. yet breaking a law in the US... So they weren't truly doing anythin WRONG...

A 19 year old person drinking responsibly on the weekend is a LONG ways away from having an "alcohol problem". Lets keep that in mind.

I understand why you wouldn't smoke but a little alcohol here and there is harmless.

It's getting DRUNK constantly that kills brain cells and stuff. NOT good.

I mean I dont feel the need to drink any alcohol half because I know I have an addictive behavor and half because It just dont seem to me like it tastes any good!

I have a friend who doesn't drink at all. She's petite and it hits her really quick. She doesn't like the feeling of not being in control... I repect that...

But seriously, your right, the media is blowing the whole thing out of proportion. However, I am glad to see her actually getting punished, because then it proves to me that she won't get off just because she is the president's daughter.

It would have been a little diferent if they had of caught them drinking and driving... or maybe passed out in apark somewhere.. or drunk and vandalizing some public property - REAL crimes/self destructive behaviour.

But the girls were just trying to order a DRINK. The same thing we all do when we go out socially.

The media is a bunch of BS and the people that get all crazy about what happens to Bush's family like his daughters being caught in a bar drinking are some bigots.
How many people do you think have drank at the age of 15? I know i've been drinking since 14 and i'm not an alcoholic.
I say lets just forget it cause every teen will get caught drinking by someone wether it be their family or the cops. No one makes a big deal if its some no body but when it's a celeberty's family member all hell breaks loose in the news room, it's disgusting.

Back on topic, it is ridiculous that a 19yr old girl is facing a criminal charge for ordering a beer to go with a meal. Your 21yr drinking age generates a lot of mirth in this country.

Wooo I'm glad that old enough to drink in the US - I remember the first time I was over there - I was 17 and I was really REALLY annoyed that I couldn't get a drink anywhere.......

God damn it you guys - I have been drinking since I was 12-13 and now I usually get two-three beers a day. But even when I was 17 I was used to drinking but oho no I couldn't get anything in the US because I wasn't old enough..... aaaarrrgghhhhh

It wasn't like I was going to do some drunken driving - I didn't even have a drivers license!!!!!!! What is wrong with a few teenagers trying/wanting to have a good time and drink some beers or shots???

I really don't get it.....

BTW if she want's to get some alcohol just send her over here we'll throw her a few parties..... (Hmm is she good looking???)

The BBC news article also states: "in 1986 Mr Bush appeared to go through a religious awakening and quit drinking." That seems to me like an unfortunate choice of religion!
