If I were you, I wouldn't have told anyone. You could have gone to your UserCP and figured out his password, and then you'd have two legal accounts.

Someone posted about this several months ago I think... It seems this only happens when your IP or host address is very similar to another user's. In this case, Calder and ainwood are both from New Zealand.

Fortunately this kind of thing is extremely rare.

PS: Are you sure the Calder account is not your little brother's?

ainwood, try this:

Go to: User CP --> Edit Options

Set 'Automatically login when you return to the site? (uses cookies)' to 'Yes' and 'Browse board with cookies?' to 'Yes.'

That should fix the problem, according to JelSoft.

I'm confused. If he's Calder right now, wouldn't that just make it log in as Calder each time? Wouldn't he have to log in as ainwood first? Or did you just leave that out because it's so obvious?

There was a thread like this a while back, and I forget what the concensus was. Probably a bug in the forums where it picks the cookie before you or something.

Further info:

As soon as I tried to browse anywhere away from the main page, it 'corrected' itself.

It may be something to do with the fact that I just changed ISPs. Went from $10 NZ / 10 hours / month + $2.50 / hr after that to $16.95 / month unlimited access.

I have a problem sorta like this. After browsing the forum for a while, it simply logs me out. This is VERY annoying when it does so while processing my post, causing me to lose the post.

Its happened to me a few times. It's a glitch in the server recognizing your IP.

You are'nt really logged in as the other user.

It just welcomes you as the other user. That's it.
