hey guys, i signed up simply to post this but i was wondering if anybody in Vancouver BC would want to sell a Civ3 copy? The retailers around here dont seem to stock it and i really dont trust steam so i was wondering if anybody had any ideas on where to get my hands on this great game?

ebay? Thats where a lot of my games come from, but shipping may hurt a little. I don't know if that helps any, but good luck.

Try Amazon. If your order is over 25, the shipping is free in the US. Dunno about Canada though. Search their website for info and deals.

If you can afford it, I would recommend that you buy the Civilization Chronicles, as you get all of the versions of Civilization from I to IV in one case of discs. Otherwise, check with Amazon, or if you have something like a Best Buy or Target in your area, you might be able to order it.

And welcome to the Forum. You can learn a vast amount about the game here.

Gamersgate.com sells Civ3 Complete, which you can just download straight from them - no shipping. I forget whether or not you'll need a crack, though.... The sale is 100% legal, but I think they might have messed up the cd-check. I know I had to get a crack, but that might have been because I moved the files around a bit recently. :p

Doesn't the US have something like a p2p online marketplace? (see marktplaats.nl for the dutch version)
Or is that ebay?

If not, I'm going to make it and become filthy rich.

:sarcasm:
A P2P online marketplace?!? Surely you jest! Everyone here in the US knows that P2P is only used by pirates (see Napster, Pirate Bay, etc.). At least, that's what the RIAA and their corporate friends keep telling us. Nobody in their right mind would set up a legitimate business using it!

(And, of course, this is off topic. ;))

thanks for everybody's help. I just decided to borrow a friend's credit card and get it gifted to me on steam XD i got the game going on by i keep running into minor problems like getting my units to stay fortified and loading soldiers onto a transport. Is there an "idiot's guide to civ3" somewhere?

Read my post again, I'm not talking about an illegal p2p file exchange thing.
I was talking about a p2p marketplace; as in no middleman...
P1 puts on an advert and P2 rings the phone or sends an email to get the deal done. Could be anything imaginable... that was my question.

Yes, I understand. That was just my somewhat warped sense of humor sneaking out. :)

The more proper response would have been: Yes, that is basically the function of ebay: helping sellers and buyers connect.

@MGS: What was weird?

Well, its gone now so... nevermind. anyway, a free download of Civ3 would be the worst possible thing for Firaxis and 2K to do. I havent seen figures but I'm sure it still sells well online.
