Hey guys, had a search but see this anywhere. I can't load anygames. when i click to go to the load menu it crashes to windows with a "microsoft visual C++" runtime error.

It was working this morning. any clues?

Has the new patch been applied?
Is it possible for you to start first a new game and then load the save in the game?

Did you try clearing the cache (Delete everything in My Documents\My Games\Civ5\Cache)?

Man, you really are trying to sell this deleting the cache thing. What makes you think this works?

I tried deleting the cache, no effect except i lost all my user settings

I can start a new game but something has gone badly wrong - I can't set production in cities - open the screen but selecting doesn't do anything - so I can't get past turn 1. loading in game gives same crash to windows.

I tried reloading the game, no effect.

It may be related to the patch. I was playing yesterday morning no probs, but then I've not played on that PC since the patch came out so it may have installed while I was playing then when i went back in the afternoon it was screwed.

oh and my both my computers still crash to windows everytime I get a news update from Steam. still haven't figured out whats causing that.

Is it me or does everyone else just love the way that we pay £30 on civ5 to spend our free time figuring out how to fix our computer instead of playing the game? what other platform or game franchise could offer this kind of interactive experience? well done firaxis :goodjob:

Did some reading up on what causes runtime errors and found this.

A runtime library error message comes when a application program presently running on your computer encounters problems. Programming bugs that weren't rectified during the development of an application are known to be the main reason.

I knew it was Firaxis that was at fault!

Having had long experience with the Civ franchise...and also the Total War franchise...I would say that both are very similar in that their latest iterations from Civ V to Empire Total War were total crashfests beyond all comprehension. The common factor that both share is that they have a lot of DLC from that "beloved" third party known as Steam. It took Empire a year before it became stable enough to play without fear of a fatal crash. One can only hope that Civ V does not share this fate.

Having the same issue. I've searched the forums with no solution found yet.
