C++ Runtime error, crash to desktop: Savegame incompatible normal + special edition

Please forgive me if this is posted somewhere else, but my few minutes + google revealed nothing.

I'm in a succession game on these boards and I can't open another player's save game with this crash.

I'm running Civ5 1.0.0.17 on my Intel Mac in straight Windows 7. Plenty of horsepower. I can play my own single player games without issue. This has only happened with this one player's save file, though it's only the second save file I've tried to open from another player.

Has anyone seen this? We've tried all sorts of combos of directX modes, with no avail.

Yeah, that's the version I have.

Then it's probably related to this.
It seems that savegames are not compatible between normal and special edition, ithas already been mentioned one time in the bug forum (this thread).
Would be nice if you post over there to confirm it.
