I was approached ages ago by Hydromancerx, who asked me to have a look at C2C on my YouTube channel. So here it is, after several months...

Wow, that sounded pretentious.

I think this mod is awesome and I'm going to play through as much as I can before I die horribly - which is likely to happen fairly early on because I'm really, really bad at Civ in general.

The way this is going to work is that I'm going to play up to 4000BC which is when the Ancient Era starts. Then I'm going to start a new game with a faster speed and record that separately.

Many thanks for watching

Good to hear. I'm glad you're enjoying them :)

All killed or subdued animals are not wasted. The killed ones add to your food and hammer stores which can be found in the city screen at the top. It takes several hundred food to get to the next population level for your starting city. While every hammer added brings the next "build" to quicker completion.

Your Red Fox, while you selected Culture, would've served you better with the Canine Myth because it would have increased your research by 1 beaker. Research is very important to upgrade as fast as you can in the early early game.

When you heal a unit after combat try to do so from the best defensive terrain around you. Forested hills are best (75% defensive bonus) with several others like forests are at 50% and then other terrain goes from there. And some terrain actually gives you a defensive malus. Never heal on them unless you have no choice.

Also be aware of the Promotions you give you units. The Hunter is a good 1st one for your early units. But after that consider the units role. A wanderer would next be served with a Forest bonus and then a hill promo before the Combat 1 (which gives a 10% str boost). Your soon coming clubmen would also benefit from this promotion progression. A bit later your Spiked clubman you can think about adding the Combat 1 sooner, but I would suggest the hunter 1st until it becomes automatic for all unit you build in your city (which will occur when you get advancements that add experience points (XP) to the units you build in that city).

You really do have a lot to absorb. And I have to  sometimes at your speculations.

Remember this is a Tactics and Strategy game and so animation is just candy and not essential like in a FPS game. Animated Leaderheads are a waste of computational capacity in this type of game.

We will see how fast you begin to catch on to how this game moves along. ;)

Thanks for your feedback. I admit that I suck at the game and any help is...well, helpful ;)

And as a general rule, I never really find that graphics and things are essential, but having things like animations really adds to the experience. I meant to make a video discussing that, actually...never got round to it  basically what I wanted to say was that the artistic side of good graphics is more important than the realism side of good graphics. So things like Oddworld and Doom have better graphics than the latest Call of Duty, for me at least :)

Modders with graphics skills are hard to find. Graphics artists have to "Love" your Mod to want to invest free time into it (like any other Modder). There are a few here at Civfanatics that have done that, but those are the exception and not the rule.

Absolutely, and the mod is still excellent, good graphics or not - in fact, if it reduces the huge gulf between turns, I might have to turn my graphics options down a touch. Or get a better CPU. :P

The next two videos will be out in the coming weeks. I have them scheduled because I've got quite a big project on at the moment, so after episodes 4 and 5 you might not see any more until at least Easter.

If or when you start a new game (either for Youtube or personal) might I suggest using a Large Perfect Mongoose map with only 6 AI. Leave Revolutions Off as well as Inquisitions, Start as Minors, and Barb Civ. Play a more "stock" game to get a feel for the mechanics of the mod and game in general. And don't think you "need" to go to war early. Won't learn how to use Diplomacy that way at all.
