Hello everyone! First, thank you Pit2015 for making this amazing map! UEM 5.1 is my personal favorite map. Thank you to the whole modding team as well for all of your amazing work on C2C. The dedication, creativity, passion and grand ambition going into this mod are amazing. To say you are all doing a great job feels like a huge understatement. C2C is something really special.
I've made an alternate variant of Pit2015's UEM 5.1 for v41.2 with many rivers differently placed, all rivers made continuous, a few small regions given somewhat different terrain, a few natural wonders differently placed, all to resemble current earth a bit more closely while keeping civ placement and (I think) UEM's current balance intact. I also have a lot of alternate game options enabled by default. I started out building the scenario variant just for my own use but I decided to share since I thought others might be interested. My alternate variant seems to be fully debugged and fully playable although I could have missed something that doesn't show up early on. I modified the map using the in-game C2C worldbuilder and then I debugged manually using Notepad ++.
The only balance issue I’ve noticed is that Egypt seems a little too powerful and too much more interested in the Levant compared with UEM 5.1, likely because of the addition of the Jordan River, and the Dead Sea being made closer to Egypt to fit its historical location. I’ll need to test this further to see if this is a consistent issue. Either way, Egypt doesn’t seem able to steamroll this region and eventually tends to focus mainly on the Nile, so this isn’t a huge issue. Egypt has controlled the Levant historically sometimes, so this is also acceptable for me from a historical perspective.
This is my first post on civfanatics and my first time sharing something civ-related.
Here is a link to the variant scenario I built:

The name seems to have cut off slightly in EasyUpload.io, but the scenario is for v41.2, not for v41.0.
Here is a list of the differences between my version and original UEM 5.1 for v41.2:
River differences:
-Total rework of all rivers in the Indian subcontinent including Sri Lanka. All rivers here have been made to closely follow the modern courses of real rivers, and the resulting river system in the subcontinent is much more dense and intricate than before. This took the most time to do.
-Major rework of the rivers of European Russia to depict the modern courses of real rivers in this area.
-Major rework of the rivers of Southern Africa. The most major change is the addition of the large Okavango River, which now drains into a delta in central Botswana. I also added marsh terrain to the Okavango Delta to reflect the unique and striking landscape there. Several other large rivers in this region have been added such as the Orange River.
-Major rework of the rivers of the Korean Peninsula to depict the modern courses of real major rivers in this area.
-Added the Jordan River, which flows into the Dead Sea (now placed in the Negev rather than in Syria).
-The Watanay River now begins one plot further south, making the Inca starting location now on a river. I’m pretty sure the Watanay is only navigable for quite small vessels in real life, but I wanted to reflect that Cusco started historically in a fertile agricultural valley.
-Added the Po River in Italy and changed the location of the Tiber to be next to Rome.
-The course of the Danube is modified.
-Added the Potomac River so that a more identifiable historical Washington, D.C. can be founded and the historically important boundary between Virginia and Maryland can be identified. If I remember right I made a few minor changes to nearby rivers such as the Hudson for similar reasons.
-I somewhat changed the course of the Columbia River in Cascadia and the Sacramento/San Joaquin River System in California.
-Filled in a few small gaps in the continuity of the Tigris, Euphrates, Rhine, Yangtze, Niger, Amazon River Watershed, and several other rivers.
Geography and terrain differences:
-The Kalahari Desert has been greatly expanded to reflect its modern historical area. Since the rivers in this area have also been expanded I think this doesn’t affect balance too much.
-I extended the Patagonian Desert in Argentina to reflect its modern historical area.
-I expanded Finland slightly and changed its shape with the goal of making it more recognizable.

I can confirm these are stable into the late Ancient Era with Nightmare difficulty, Eternal game speed, medium graphics, storms on, damaging terrain on, and Pit2015’s recommended viewport and RAM usage settings on my fairly low-end laptop. This is true with Microsoft Edge active in the background with a few tabs open.
I hope my work on this map/scenario variant is helpful! Cheers!
