C3C 1.22 patch(problemo)

Just downloaded this patch and when instaled it asks for a game disc.
Have a 1.00 version of C3C,and since i'm new in patching cant figure it out.
Help?

Can you be a bit more specific? Does it ask for a disc right after you installed the patch? Was there any problems while running the 1.00 version?

well,no problems earlier...regularly installed Civ3 and exp. Conquest...all works well,buttt when I install 1.22 it cant locate the disc in the Cd-Rom.
Message is standard one"Please insert the Civilization III:Conquest CD-ROM,select OK and restart application"
Wont start the game at all,and if I copy-overwrite the .exe file from disc it starts the game but version is still 1.00 and the txt is all wrong(exm.where it should be"New Game" stands "Baracks","Load game"-"New Baracks" etc.)

The "not being able to recognize cd in drive" also happened to me once. I think the solution was a reinstall of civ.

The situation with the menu being messed up has been seen before, but I don't know any solutions for it.

Ive had this problem and its an ongoing one. Everytime a install that patch i get the same error and hav tried the same cure with the .exe. Even if i uninstall and start fresh when i put the patch back on i get the same error. Cant figure out why it does this the only odd thing is the game does allow certain mods that require the latest patch 1.22 to work fine even when it saies its version 1.00.

You should check for updated cd-rom drivers. Also check the tech support forum for more ideas/suggestions.

There is more to the patch than just updating the exe file. That is why everything is messed up when you overwrite the 1.22 exe with the 1.00 exe.

well,I tried to reinstall the whole thingi and no luck...don work

You should try and figure out why it doesn't work. C3C 1.00 is really buggy. It has to be something to do with the copy protection not finding the cd.

Yeah...my guess is the same because patch instals it's own .exe and the problem occures then.Copy/paste wont work simply because diferent file versions use data files in diferent way.Well,that I learned from some other games I patched!
Even the startup screen is somewhat diferent,it's all I can see!

This may work for you one of my friends had this problem and this cured it for him (not me tho ). Try installing every update for it in order rather than just the 1.22. It does state you dont need to do this but it did the job that time.

i have the same problem aswell i really would like some help on this so i cn play on the internet. also when i am installing 1.22 patch especially (also happens once on conquest) a mesage pops up saying "An option you selected requires that files be installed on your system, or files be uninstaleld from your system, or both. A read-only file, C:\civ3\text\civilopedia.txt, was found while preforming the needed file operations on your system. To preform the operation click yes; otherwise click no."
Could this be linked with the problem? please reply my hand is tired fromtyping this so many times,

There's a couple read only files that need to be replaced during the patch process. Hopefully you said yes and replaced them. This wouldn't have anything to do with not finding the cd.
