Two-player game only, so full already.

Axis Powers: saulosi
Soviet Union: M60A3TTS

Special rules:

No mass-airlifting of troops among cities.

No razing of cities with the exception that the Axis player may raze Leningrad at any time, if desired.

Neither side will use war-time mobilization initially.

There is a reported bug in some games with "Tankograd" located in several places. The Soviet player is only permitted one. If the bug is found during this game, duplicates should be sold off.

Turn 1 complete and email sent.

Cities conquered:
Bialystok
Grodno
Slonin
Lvov
Kiliya

Destroyed lots of infantry, and took a few infantry losses myself. As for non-infantry, the Germans destroyed 9 Soviet Tank Divisions, 1 Soviet Tank Corps, and 4 Motorized Rifle Divisions. Losses were 2 Tank Destroyer Battalions. The German air force took advantage of the surprised Russian air force and destroyed a few roads and railroads.

Brest-Litovsk almost fell, it looks like there was one MRD left with 1 HP, but I didn't have anything left that could get to it.

No Tankograd spotted.

Soviet forces were paralyzed by the swiftness of the German onslaught and confusion about orders from above not to fire on German troops, so no counterattacks were attempted.

Party commissars throughout the region raised some conscript infantry divisions to replace losses of frontier units, and re-prioritized some city builds.

Not sure what the German propaganda is about a tank corps was which was reported destroyed. The only corps unit STAVKA acknowledges is Zhukov, and he’s still in the Far East keeping the Japanese in line. ;)

Tankograd appears to be in only one Soviet city.

German armies continue to roll east, although at a slower pace, allowing the slower infantry to keep up with the blitzkrieging armor.

Cities Captured:
- Brest-Litovsk
- Viborg
- Riga
- Vilna
- Kishnev

Several Motorized Rifle Divisions and Tank Divisions destroyed or wounded.

The Tank Corps was actually a Tank Brigade of the 4th Mech Corps. Field commanders exaggerated a bit, but the decimation of the T-34 equipped Tank Brigade has been confirmed.

Frantic calls from commanders in the field for orders continue to be met by silence in Moskva. More conscript divisions are raised, but with most units still frozen in place, no offensive action is taken.

The loss of our fortress-city of Brest-Litovsk and the Latvian capital of Riga is bitter news. Regardless, the hope is that Soviet troops will be able to start organizing a more aggressive defense in the coming days.

German armies spent the week celebrating and regrouping. Several cities were attacked, but the fast moving armor had outrun their support. No new conquests.

Soviet forces have shaken off their malaise and promptly launched 2 local counterattacks. North Front troops attempted to re-capture Vyborg, but were driven off as a single 1hp infantry held onto the end. Tried using a mobile AA which of course was an act of utter futility and only served to promote the defender.

Results on the Southwest Front were more encouraging as 26th Army reinforced by mechanized and tank forces struck northwest of Zhitomir, destroying the LSSAH, some infantry and captured several artillery pieces.

Army Group North presumed to be consolidating somewhere in the area of Riga.
Lead elements of Army Group Center appear to be just south of Minsk.
Army Group South looks to be massing for a strike at Odessa.

Soviet Losses:

Mobile AA
3 Tank Divisions
Tank Brigade
2 I-15
2 DB-3B
I-16
SB-2
IL-4
Some infantry

German losses:

At Zhitomir:

LSSAH
TD Bn
4 artillery captured
3 infantry or so
Mobile AA

At Vyborg
3 infantry or so
2 mobile AA

Army Group South, aided by the armies of our Axis allies, picked up the advance in the south. The crowds meeting our troops in the streets of Iyano-Frankovsk and Chernovsty were quite moving. News reports that the commander of that under-strength attack towards Zhitomir was found dead in his quarters. Although his death was a shock, natural causes are to blame.

Army Group Center consolidated it's positions north of the Pripet marshes with the capture of Lutsk and Pinsk.

Army Group North is back in Russian territory. It is not being met as liberators as the first few days in eastern Poland.

German losses are light. The Russian air force seems to have found it's wings, as the Luftwaffe suffered it's first casualties. Long range interdiction attacks have found several conscript Infantry units playing soccer alongside the railroad. They were reminded of the dangers of war.

The citizens of Vyborg breathe fresh air once again as the last Axis vipers were crushed under the heels of the Red Army. General Popov’s headquarters reported today that the victory is but a taste of what is yet to come.

In other news, West Front’s 13th Army conducted a daring strike against a portion of Army Group Center’s rear echelon forces massing south of Minsk. Taken aback by the ferocity of the assault, Nazi troops abandoned the guns of four Soviet artillery units, plus another four of their own.

Regarding the reports of Soviet troops playing soccer on the railroad tracks, Red Army Spokesman Boris Yeltsin replied that the troops had nothing else to do, being that the Germans moved at such a snails pace.

Axis Losses:

At Vyborg:

2 infantry

West Front south of Minsk:

5 infantry or so
88mm Air Defense Unit
TD Bn IRIC. Or maybe not.
8 artillery captured. Will return the shells in direction of the enemy shortly.

Soviet losses:

I-16
IL-4

Infantry continue their advance towards their objectives. Wide spread rain, and the ensuing mud contributed to the delays.

Support equipment are in short supply as production strains to keep up with the demands of the front.

The capture of Tallinn makes up for the surprise loss of prized artillery.

With the capture of Talinn, the population of Leningrad fears the worst. The German forces of Army Group North to this point have been unstoppable. Will Moscow send them the assistance so desperately needed? In the streets of the capital, citizens whisper that Comrade Stalin has gone into hiding because of the devastation which the Fascists have wrought upon the Rodina.

German forces of Army Group Center are closing on Minsk from two sides. The concentrated force of the panzers will have to be met by the determined resistance of those manning the barricades in the streets of the city. Local party officials encourage the population to not yield an inch, and fight with whatever means they have.

The position of Army Group South is another matter. Even though no offensive plans have yet been received from STAVKA, the commanders of Southwest and South Fronts launch two separate attacks designed to hurl back the invaders. East of Chernovtsy, General Kirponos throws 12th Army and his armor formations into the Axis forces in his area. The results are most encouraging. At the same time, Red Army troops of 9th Army at Odessa assault the Axis troops just outside the city limits. Again the results are all that could have been hoped for. The casualties:

At Chernovtsy:

Axis Powers

3 Panzer Divisions
1 Mountain Division
1 Mech Division
1 ADA
13 Infantry Divisions
5 artillery units captured

Soviet Union

3 Tank Divisions
1 Mechanized Division
2 Infantry Divisions

At Odessa:

Axis Powers
Italian Motorized Division
5 Cavalry Divisions
11 Infantry Divisions

Soviet Union
1 Tank Division
1 Airborne Division
5 Infantry Divisions

Thus, the satellite nations of the Axis Powers learn the price of collaboration with their masters in Berlin. And Von Rundstedt must now consider his position carefully.

very cool thread guys

Where can i get the start file to play this myself?

:D

In the north, great hoards of Russian tanks were observed massing to the east. Critical roads to reinforce Tallinn had been destroyed, apparently by what's left of the Russian Air Force. The troops which had previously conquered Tallinn have dug in, and are prepared to die in house to house combat.

Velikiye Luki and the woods around it were captured and cleared of soviet infantry (8 infantry destroyed and 1 artillery captured).

Army Group Center captured Minsk with no losses (12 soviet infantry and AA units died valiantly defending it).

Things are looking grim in the south. The recent attack by the Russian 9th Army has put quite a dent in the plans of Army Group South. Odessa will have to wait for another time.

The Russian AA gunners in Zhitomir inflicted heavy casualties. Several bombers were lost.

In the Northwest Front, the people of Talinn greeted the Red Army and rejoiced in it’s liberation. Mobile formations were thrown against Axis relief forces located in a heavily wooded area just south of the town. Losses were reported to be heavy on both sides.

In the West Front sector, it was confirmed that Minsk had indeed fallen. The loss of the city had been anticipated for some days, and speculation is that the Fascist troops will be resuming their advance shortly. With the loss of the city, Marshal Timoshenko replaced General Pavlov as Front commander.

In the area near Zhitomir, massed Panzer formations were spotted, preparing to assault the city in the same manner as in the Minsk sector. The defenders are prepared to fight to the last. One minor engagement was fought southwest of Zhitomir in order to keep Axis forces off balance.

Near Odessa, a period of uneasy quiet surrounded the area as troops are taking the opportunity to rest and refit.

Casualties:

At Talinn

German forces:

4 Panzer Divisions
6 Infantry Divisions
3 ADA units
1 88mm Regiment
4 Artillery

Soviet forces:
5 Tank Brigades
1 Tank Division
1 IL-4

At Zhitomir

German forces:
Motorized Division
3 Infantry Divisions
2 Artillery

Army Group North has re-united with the cut-off forces near Talinn. No other activity.

Army Group Center was quiet. Forces are nearly spent and badly needed reinforcements were diverted to the north.

Army Group South launched it's attack against Zhitomir only to find that the city was very well defended. At least 10 Soviet infantry/mobile AA, and 1 Tank Brigade were destroyed. Axis losses were a few bombers and 1 Tank Division. Apparently, this is where the Soviet infantry has been retreating to.

“Are they ready?”

“Ready, Comrade General.”

SS Division Viking in the vanguard, the armor of Army Group South raced towards the trenches of Zhitomir. Six panzer divisions, three motorized divisions, and two Air Defense Regiments ready to avenge the losses of the previous weeks.

“My God, Comrade General, there must be almost a thousand tanks in front of us!”

“Not quite, Vasily, but they will do for now.”

Glancing over his shoulder for a moment, the commander could just make out the Soviet 122mm artillery batteries at the far edge of a woodline. He then returned his attention to the German troops, unaware of the storm which was about to be unleashed.

“Commence firing.”

At Zhitomir:

German Losses
6 Panzer Divisions
3 Motorized Divisions
SS Division Viking
ADA

Soviet Losses
2 Tank Divisions
IL-2
SB-2

Hitler denies that his forces could have been defeated so badly in the field. He is beginning to think he is surrounded by idiots. Or, his field commanders are misleading him. All leadership summoned to Berlin, and they witness what is the beginning of his fanatical tirades.

Hence, no ground attacks. Besides, a few artillery bombardments, only the Luftwaffe is active, several air interdiction attacks.

A relatively quiet week for both sides. With the front stabilized in the north and center, activity has increased in the south. A few Axis infantry are taken out southwest of Zhitomir with 3 artillery taken and due west of Odessa a couple more are destroyed.

For the moment, Soviet troops of South and Southwest Fronts are on the offensive, in order to drive Von Rundstedt back into the Carpathians. ;)

Fascist aircraft have been very active in tearing up rail lines in the Moscow sector. The Red Air Force is in little position to check the progress of the enemy bombers for now. :(

A relatively quiet week,
but here's what was seen by Army Group South as they re-focused their binoculars through the sun.... (screen shot attached)

Troops in Iyano-Frankovsk, CHernovsty, and Kishnev prepared for the worst. A pre-dawn probe destroyed 3 infantry, Mobile AA, and captured an artillery.

The offensive was picked up again by Army Group North and Central. This was the Luftwaffe's worst week. They aided armored battalions in the attack on Smolensk. FIFTEEN bombers were shot down and only THREE or FOUR actually made it to their target.      Needless to say, the air raids were not helpful, so the attempt to capture the city failed.
