C3C PBEM : CeD - Rise of Rome scenario-based PBEM

played and passed

did not look at Persia's %, afraid to; did notice the evil carthaginians have stolen Thebes from our friends the Macedons

Well, Persia finally made 50% Population, but just barely (worker merges). I'm not sure when the win conditions would kick in - probably when Loulong starts his turn? (Unless Dogboy knocks me back to 49%).

It looks like the baby boom finally hit! The Purple Persian Hordes win in 5 AD (only one Scythian city left, btw.
Thanks for the great game, everyone!

thanks for letting me finish the game for someone else, i will soon plst a screenshot of my last turn to show just how close Rome was to possibly preventing this victory, unfortunately, Pirke's units were very spread out and it took way too long to get them organized to advance upon Persia. I don't know if I could have made a significant difference, but it would have been fun trying. That is my only disappointment in acting as a substitute, to have inherited a situation where I was completely unable to affect the outcome of the game due to the inability to get units there in time.

congratulations rubberjello

Congrats RJ, even if you won "from me" lol. This one sure did not last till the end like RoR.

Strange game and badly managed on my side.

Thanks to Predesad for accepting to play when it was nearly over and for taking over a quite damaged civ.

Vade Retro Dogboy for a treacherous attack when I was no danger anymore. Did you think you could avoid RJ's victory or did you want to help him ?

Congrats to RJ for a game well played.

Thanks to Predesad for stepping in when I told him it was going to be a difficult situation.

@ LouLong: I know you weren't a threat to me anymore. However, I did ask you multiple times why you haven't moved your ships yet. You may have been telling the truth when you said you forgot about them, but you also have have not been telling the truth in an attempt to attack me again. I did not want to help RJ win. However, we had an agreement that we would not attack each other until both Rome and you were destroyed. I intended to honor that agreement. But I also knew that I could not defeat Rome. My only choice that I saw was to try and expand as fast as I could and the best way was to capture your land and citizens. I tried to capture them as fast as I could to stop RJ from getting the win, but I wasn't quick enough.

What are you talking about ??? I allied with Rome and attacked you but I did not attempt to attack you anymore after that...

I know you didn't attempt to attack me. But you kept YOUR ships in MY waters for 25+ turns. I asked you several times what they were doing there and asked you to move them. You never moved them. That shows you are poised to attack me. If you are not poised to attack me, why would you keep your ships there?

Honestly ?
Just because I forgot about them.... :-( lol

Might have wanted some intel at some time but then I really forgot about them.
Whatever, you have the right to attack me when you want, no need to provide reasons.
You did a nice job against Rome BTW.

Not to be overly critical, but how hard is it to do good against a player who never built any workers??!!

And furthermore, trades for horses from his ally, yet does not build heavy cavalry??

It's not that I question DogBoy's ability, as I know he is a very capable player from experience, but, well I just wanted to rant . . .

Well, looking from my position (outside) and as lover of RoR games, you all did pretty good.

Of course Predesad was very courajeous in assuming so bad position, so honour to him!

And Special Congrat to the winner, he did a pretty damn good job as Persia! (very tactical and strategical as it seems!) :king:

here is a pic indicating how close i was to possibly making a differnece in the game, it shows my units approaching Persian territory. This was at the beginning of my last turn, legionaries were building roads along the way to speed progress of following units, some were fortified along the way to keep Goth off the road because I was building Heavy Cavalry, with their extra movement & the roads they would have been able to catch up to the main force which could only move one tile per turn. I believe I would have reached Persian cities in 5-6 turns (depending on any rival units which might have been occupying those roads leading into Persian cities) My attack force at the moment consisted of 40 Legionary III ( one elite, 3-4 regulars, the bulk were veterans), 15 fire catapults, 8 heavy cavalry (this number probably would have at least doubled by the time I reached Persia), and one archer for good measure. I don't know if I could have made a real difference, but it would have been fun trying.

It would have been an interesting battle. I had about 15 Numids and around 30 Heavy Cavs up around that region (+2 Cav Armies).

(My 100+ Heavy Cavs who were camped out in Greece (watching the Carths tear Greece apart), could have come as reinforcements eventually though!)

Well, I knew from the start the mission was bound for failure, but I was just hoping to knock you down a few % to at least delay the win and make it more competitive by trying to raze a couple cities. You destroyed my only Army, who was over ambitious, so unless I managed to generate more leaders I never really expected to do significant damage. The total plan was to distract you from Greece so that when the peace treaty expired they could launch an invasion also and hit you with a double whammy, but then Carthage showed up in Greece and that plan would have been wrecked anyway, not to mention even if I was able to put you in a serious predicament DOgBoy would already have units in place to back you up.
