C3C PBEM : Grognards - Napoleonic scenario-based PBEM

:bump:
Errr...Does El Oso even read this thread? We need a decision. I don't have the game turn, in case that is the holdup.

I can stand in to play the almost dead people!

I'm playing as England in the Wellington game, so its nice to see the English doing well!

Let me know by PM

Sounds good to me! As soon as akots agrees and can send you the save (he has the last one), then I will email you the password.
Welcome aboard! (for the short ride). Yes. England is doing quite well, thank you very much!

If Steph does not answer I can take in Russia if needed so James I can take the probably more interesting Ottomans.
But maybe try to send a mail to both el_Oso and Steph in case at least one answers.

well, loulong has my email from the 'nelson' pbem..... and all of you feel free to PM me.

I'm just giving you the option- it is your game after all.

England- PM me some general tips if you get the time (how do you beat those darn Elite Imperial Guard!)

It seems that Loulong had agreed to played the Russian part of the game to the bitter end. Many thanks for that.

Steph apparently is no longer interested in this game.

Update for lurkers:
Grog15.jpg

Jan, 1810. England has 36/44 area/population (40/40 to win). It appears capturing the last Swedish city will not be enough to win via area. An eventual clash with the Austrian/Ottoman alliance seems inevitable.
(45,680 VP out of 60,00)

The British troops are dying of boredom! Never did they think it would take the Austrians so long to clean up the Russian rabble! In their quest to bring peace to all of Europe, the slackers of Austria will be deposed starting in the spring of 1812. (March)

War has been declared between Britain and Austria.
But, the English being the Gentlemen they are, gave another 2 month grace period to the Austrians, whom they observed through field glasses arriving back from the far reaches of Russia with frostbitten fingers and toes, and unbearably huge vodka hangovers!

Austrian Emepror, Great Alexander Habsburg, finally wakes up with horrible headache after a huge banquet in Vienna celebrating crushing victory over the Russians just to find that there is another war coming from the West. Well, little can be done about it, so, he just orders to draft a few Grenzers here and there and move Hussars and atrillery on the defensive. It seems that Vienna and Royal Castle will survive and that the capture of a few border cities or former French holdings would be enough for Britain to reach over the Domination limit and win this long game hopefully during the next one or two turns.

But Gods of War and pRNG are unpredictable. So, who knows, may be Austrian military would be blessed with one or two great victories among many forthcoming defeats.

It's hammer time. :hammer: :hammer:

Russia is announcing its military withdrawal soon. The Czar family plans on escaping to England while their last city Kiev falls into the hands of the Infidels.

The Czar and his family would be most welcome in England! Perhaps someday they could be restored to their throne in Russia...

Berlin:
Bombarded - Killed 10 Hussars, 3 Fusiliers, captured city and 3 cannon. Lost 5 Household Cavs.

Leipzig:
Killed 5 Hussars and 2 Fusiliers. Captured city. No losses

Valence:
Bombarded - killed 2 Hussars and 6 Fusiliers, Lost 1 Lifeguard and captured city.

I faced a choice about going after Liepzig or going after your Armies. I probably made a mistake by going after Liepzig, but I was trying for the 40% territory in one turn. I fell short (39%).

I have the turn and will play today in the evening. Looks grim.

Question to the designers of this scenario: How am I supposed to defeat the defense 7 unit having an extra hit point (??? what is that for ??? isn't it good enough already ???) with attack 6 unit without extra hit point? How am I supposed to defend against attack 7 unit when my best defender has defense 4? That is a puzzling thing indeed. It also seems that Berlin had been attacked with armies...

OK, never mind the whinning. Austrian generals will make some battle plans and will try their best to prolong the inevitable.

My only defense of the designers of this scenario is that both the Lifeguards and Household Cavalry are hideously expensive in terms of shields. England was designed to have fewer, but more quality units. Unfortunately, a peaceful, 3 year build up is probably too hard to overcome.
As Loulong pointed out, the early demise of the French in this game threw all the balances off.
