***************HOUSE RULES*****************
******************************************
The Agreed House Rules for this game are:

1. France can never ally with Germany. Nor can England or Russia. There are no fixed alliances.
2. The three AI players will remain neutral until recruited by either the Axis or the Allies. You may not sign any alliances with the AIs on the first turn.
3. Nukes are allowed after January 1945.
4. No razing of cities, either by abandoning them or by razing them upon capture. You may sell off improvements.
5. Even though Russia will become part of the Allies (assumption), they can't attack Germany until either Germany attacks them first, or on turn 11. This reflects the peace that Germany and Russia had at the start of the war. Germany may not have any units in Russian land while they are at peace. German units in Russia lands constitute an act of war. The German units that start the scenario inside Russia must exit asap.
6. Germany must declare war on Russia no later than turn 11.
7. Nor England nor France can cross into Germany (in Europe) or Italy (mainland) on turn 1, nor conduct any attacks against German units inside Germany or Italian units in mainland Italy (no air attacks either). However, they may attack German cities in Norway.
8. Each player needs to provide a battle report when they send the save. It doesn't have to be a colorful discussion, just something simple such as:

Germany killed three Russian cavalry near Moscow.
Germany killed one France infantry near Paris.
Germany lost a panzer to a French tank near Lyons.

9. No building of new cities is allowed.
10. Giving cities to other nations is not allowed.
11. Attacking submarines must destroy all other ships in a stack before they can attack transports in that stack. I.e., This rule came about becase we have disabled the ability of all units in the game to see subs, and we forgot to disable the subs "stealth" attack ability, which is what we intended before we began the game.

SCENARIO DETAILS
The MP scenario is for 8 players. We are playing with 5 human and 3 computer players as follows:
1. Sweden (computer) 2. England 3. France 4. Ussr 5. Germany 6. Spain (computer) 7. Italy 8. Netherlands (computer)

The scenario was designed by EL MENCEY, and then Rcoutme did a few modifications. To play this scenario you need to download the "El mencey" files, which contains the single and MP versions (see instructions here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=93274&page=2&pp=20). Then use our modified file for MP which is attached in this post.

TOMORROW BELONGS TO ME
And now what you've all been waiting for, the music that gives name to this particular game thread. Imagine yourself in Germany, in the early 30's, you're having a drink at some peaceful beer garden. Then you hear a voice, a young teenager, dressed with attire of the forthcoming NSDAP party, has begun to sing what sounds like some sort of hymn...then one by one all of the German civilians which were just having a quiet beer begin to get up and start singing along; before you know it the whole beer garden is up, shouting enthutiastically, motivated by this song which promises a brighter future, a Tomorrow that will be Germany's, after so many years of rampant inflation, unemployment, political disorder, international political humiliation. But...where will that dream take Europe?
Stay around in this thread and you will find out ! :mischief:
Tomorrow belongs to me Midi

Get rid of the timer!!!!! You have the timer set to slow, and it should be set to none.

Rcoutme sent the modified .biq file to everybody. If there is anybody who didn't get it, let me or rcoutme know so we can send it to you.

Ok, if everybody agrees to slow then I guess we can go to it. I have personally never liked the timer but if you had an hour, we should all be ok.

NO, I don't mind redoing my turn (oh well, yes I do), but then we will have to wait till tomorrow at least. Does anybody know what is the time the slow timer gives? Do any of the players enjoy having their turn on screenm for several hours to do it bit by bit? Maybe then we will have to do it without timer.
I would try to do my turn again tomorrow.

I have no idea what time the timer gives. But if it gave you one hour and you could do your turn, that sounds like it will work for me. In these games, the first turn usually takes the longest. I say we go with it.

GOOD NEWS ON THE TIMER:
Page 60 of the Conquests Manual: "Game speed has no effect in Hot Seat and Play by E-mail games...
Uuuuuuuuufffffffff....to think I'd have to do that first turn again....

By the way I had no diplomatic contacts with the neutrals at all in that first turn, of any kind.
Also there's no battle report because the only encounter must have been with a sub, but I didn't see it I just saw one of my ships stopping as it moved and start to fire; don't know what happened to the sub.
SO, PIRKE, it's your turn...

Do you mean to tell me that England has no other battle reports? Man, I'm confused as to what your strategy is. You should have captured Berlin, Koningsberg, and Strausbourg on the first turn, as well as sunk half the German navy! This is going to be easier than I thought ;)

Pirke, I don't remember. Did I send a final version to you?

I am sure that you and Rcoutme as a team are quite unbeatable, both experts in CIV for many years, of doing mods, scenarios, paying tournaments etc. You know all the tiny winny bits of details concerning victory points, cost of improvements, combat values and ratios, and so on. Personally I just began with this game a couple of months ago...don't know Rubber and Pirke's experience (I sure hope it's longer than mine!).

With that amount of Panzers roaming Europe, you practically can crush Russia, Spain, the Balkans in no time at all...

I sure hope that if Rcoutme is working on a more developed scenario he doesn't forget to add long range bombers for the allies that can reach Berlin from London, because now they can't

Another things The English technology is quite bad . we are still having to develop a lot of the Industrial Age technologies, such as nationalism, whilst I notice Germany is already on it's way to Nuclear technologies almost from the very beginning. I wonder if this is another error or th scenario...

I'd have a look at North of Norway if I were you where Germany has just suffered it's first defeat of the war. :goodjob:

Anyway in spite of all the differences, there's something you must know:  :p :) :scan: :D

True, I have been playing for many years. One of the helpful gizmos is the combat calculator. You input the data like attacker's and defender's hitpoints, defender on type of terrain, across river, etc... and the calculator lets you know what your chances of winning the fight. Other than that, just a lot of games. I know Rubberjello is a good player after playing with/against him in more than one game.

You could be right, but I don't think so. (I'm a naysayer sometimes). The panzers have a great attack and speed, but their defense is less than an infantry. If I outrun my infantry, I can be picked apart easily by tanks. That is one thing I will have to be careful about.

I would think the bombers should be able to reach Berlin also. The different types of bombers that each side had in the war was able to reach the enemy's capitols. Of course, flak and fighters AA capability would need to get plussed up I think.

I hadn't noticed that, but I will take a look at it.

So you do have battle reports north of Norway?

Back at ya! :p

I figured you would capture that city, but I would also call that a battle report. Even though no units were killed, your evil warmongering ways did enslave some peaceful Germans. I had actually planned on playing a peaceful game and was going to try and build the UN and win diplomatically, but not now. No, you have forced my hand to go to war.

Let the world know that it is England, not Germany, who has led this world down the course it shall follow for the next 61 turns (or less). It is England who has attacked, without provocation, and without notice, the ever so gentle, and oft-misunderstood Germans. When you write your history books, make sure everybody knows it was ENGLAND'S FAULT!

I had actually noticed that Nationalism was not a French or English trait. I assumed that the original creator planned it that way since the USSR, Germany and Italy all do have that trait. I will modify Mencey's game more (in the future) but then someone will have to tell me how to load all of the units and put in a new tech tree.

As for playing a lot: well I have played Civ 3 for a while (since it came out, actually, unpatched!) but not against human players and not on a constant basis. In addition, the fact that I have CFIDS kind of makes the Itallians the weaklings they ought to be.

In a new mod, 1. I will probably start USSR with riflemen (instead of infantry) to reflect Stalin's purges. 2. Create a much better airwar tech tree. 3. Create a scenario that starts Aug 1939. 4. Give the Germans a slightly better fleet. 5. Give the Soviets a much worse fleet. 6. Make units specific to the nations (like in the WWII Pacific campaign). 7. Have the city of Prague start with a building that produces the early German unit (I forget what it's called right now) that is basically a panzer that is sort of weak but still fast.

Any other ideas, feel free to post.

I found the thread :) I was expecting the file in my inbox, I'm at work right now and will have to do my turn this evening, sorry for this initial delay. It does give us some more time to prepare for that German attack, I have this feeling it won't take long before hell comes to our little country. Our people are still happily drinking wine, but for how long?
