C3C PBEM : "Zama2" - Rise of Rome scenario-based PBEM

Game played,
As the persian out cities grow stronger, Alexander takes a hit to his military. Will it b to weak and fail the ultima attack?

After Alexander's army beat back the attacks from Icosium (losing nearly half his strength), it was time for the assault. Alex led his army of Hoplites against the lead defender, a fortified spear, and was victorious, although his army was weaker still. Sensing this to be a decisive moment, Alexander called forth the Companion Cavalry (vet horsemen). The first killed a spear who appears to have been rushed :whipped: to the scene, then the second killed one of Persia's famed Immortals, and the third horsemen killed an archer. Yet another archer remained. This was the test, would Alexander live up to the title of The Great, :king: or would he fall back and be remembered as Alexander the Mediocre...

Alexander himself charged in, :hammer: finishing off the remaining defender, and Icosium was liberated from the Persian Empire! With the roads now opened, reinforcing hoplites were rushed to the scene to prepare for the inevitable Persian counterattack, but Alexander, this day at least, was victorious!

After five years to stew over their loss of their flagship, the Carthaginian Navy struck back, sinking a Roman galley that invaded our territorial waters. No losses to report.

335BC was a quiet turn on the eastern front, as more troops position for the assault on Ancyra. One Macedonian galley was lost against a Persian rowboat near Cyprus.

I hope you guys didn't have to start all over again 'cos of me?
I mean, Justus would have won even if I did burn the cities.

This is studsoccers girlfriend and he he's sorry but his internet connection is down but he will try to get on as soon as possible. thanks!

On the islands off of Rome our marvellous army walks into Aleria without resistance and captures a Carth worker that was trying to run away.

In Sicily a hard fought campaign is being waged. Romans are losing Legions at the same attrition rate as Carth Numedians. Roman soldiers also hear a new word which passing refugees direct to them ... Mafia. No one knows what it means but it is accompanied by spitting and the middle finger flipped from behind the teeth. Odd these Sicilians.

In southern France our legions are recovering from a hard battle against the barbarian Celts.

Our magnificient navy is losing on all fronts against the Carths. It is a hoped a new harbour will help bolster repairs and make our ships more efficient.

Fairly quiet turn for Macedon. Our wounded galley sinks a wounded Persian galley, then flees from two more. A reckless archer storms down from the mountain to kill a spear north of Antioch, but leaves himself exposed. Meanwhile, the siege of Ancyra continues, as Alex moves north with his Hoplites and Companion Cav.

Turn 4 saw not much action by the Carthaginians. We moved some troops around, shuffled our navy and gave the Celts a Present.
I hope Rome likes my Present.
(Do not worry, no alliance was forged.)

Although it turned into an epic battle, the veteran horsemen and hoplites of Macedon eventually prevailed over the spears and archers of Persia at Ancyra. Alexander was suprised at the number of Persian archers available, but eventually the superior numbers of hoplites carried the day. At sea, galleys traded volleys, with one of each side going to the bottom. We can only hope the Persian one had troops aboard... ;)
