C3C problems with running

I just bought and installed C3C and I cannot get to launch. When I click on the Start menu icon or choose play from the popup when the disc is inserted nothing happens except a very brief hourglass icon. I have updated all my drivers and reinstalled a couple times. I also ran the DirectX diagnosis and everything looked good. Does anyone know about this problem or have any suggestions? Thanks!

Try going to "My Computer", opening the disk through there (Right-Click, Open) and clicking either 'Autorun' or 'CivilizationConquests'.

I can get the autoplay menu to pop up no problem, but when I press "Play" nothing happens. Same thing if I manually navigate to the conquests EXE file.

Yeah I had already re-installed several times, including copying it to the desktop and installing from there. I finally got some actual help from 2K Games and they found a solution. I have XP and I have to run the game in 2000 mode.

Try your other CD-ROM.

(Most computers these days have 2 cd-roms)

Not all. I've got a DVD burner, no need for a second drive. Also, if it's a laptop there won't be a second drive.

Of course, I could mount one if I wanted to. But the point is, not every system comes with two drives.

I had to install my Civ3C through my DVD Burner, because otherwise, one of the files would be corrupt. So if he has another ROM, he should try it.
