C3C Scenario/Mod: Rising Sun

@Pawel have you considered pushing communicatons back till Industrial Age to slow things down? Or you could remove it compleltly like in RoCX. It works very well and is far more realtic to have to go discover people rather than exchanging commounications as you do phone numbers.

Ha, ha. The Americans are not made to be strong this early in the game, you know! ;)

Yes, the communications are a problem. I don't yet know what to do about them. Maybe at least they can be pushed back to Navigation?

Well, I am interested in both, actually! It is always nice to see how things develop later on. But since the new one is your idea... :) Well, if you start over, I hope you will continue the new test into the late game.

Well I decided to continue the current one as things just got intreasting. Germany and US singed an alliance against me so now I'm at war with both.
I'll keep you updated.

Germany declares war after signing an alliance against us with America.

I sign an alliance with Poland and they declare war on Germany. I decide to consolidate my gains and sign peace with the US. Seattle is ceded which is renamed Bermuda.

Mongols declare war on Germans. Poles build Newton’s University. I decide to use this time to Industrialize.

Nations in Industrial Age include:

Poland
Germany
Spain
Portugal
Russia
Ottomans
China
India
Korea
Japan

Incidentally they are the major competitive nations of the world.

Alexandria is retaken by the Arabs.

Korea declares war on Spain

New York celebrates ‘We love the Queen: it is good that the American rebels have embraced Britain once more.

The Portuguese have colonized all the Southern Artic islands.

It seems to me that the European and Far Eastern nations are doing well in general. I would have expected Scandinavia rather than Korea on the list, though...

So England and Poland are now at war with Germany? That kind of sounds familiar! You are ahead of your time!

The Persians and Arabs being at war does not really surprise me, but I never really figured out why the Persians went for Alexandria. :crazyeye:

I can't wait to see what comes next!

Poland and Spain have the same color BTW. If their borders meet it will be hard to differentiate between them.

Poland declares war on China because of alliance with Spain. Immediately Spain and China singed a peace treaty.

I consolidate in North America

World War I

Persia declares war on Germany (alliance)

Germany declares war on Spain (alliance)

India declares war on Koreans (alliance)

Germany declares war on Korea (alliance)

India declares war on us (alliance)

Detroit founded din North America

I get Persia to declare war on India

I get China to declare war on Indians

Scandinavia and Spain both mysteriously sail ships into my territory.

Japan declares war on Persians (alliance)

I am still Industrailizing and consolidating my gains in North America.

Zulu declare war on Scandinavia (alliance)

Inca declare war on us (alliance)

I land troops on a fortress in Germany

Fortress.JPG

Poland signs peace with Germany and German cavalry attack our forces wiping gout half of them.

Nubia declares war on China (alliance)

I get Portugal and Spain to declare war on the Incas

The Germans retake the fortress but at a cost.

Germans_recapture.JPG

Zulu declares war on Persia randomly and so does France

We sign peace with Germany

A Scandinavian Ship of the Line attacks and sinks a Spanish Galleon.

France declares war on Spain (alliance)

Nubia declares war on Spain (alliance)

Hangchow is taken by Poland

Maya declares war on Spain (alliance)

Poland declares war on Spain (alliance)

Korea declares war on China (alliance)

US disbands a Cavalry must not be able to afford upkeep.

India declares war on Scandinavia (alliance)

The Incans have taken Oporto in the Amazon. The Portuguese are forced along the coast.

Chinese retake Hangchow . The Chinese takes Toledo in Siberia.

My main Industrial base is actually developing in Australia and North America lol

A bunch of declarations of war I can’t bother to keep track of anymore.

I run into El Cid again.

El_Cid.JPG

Poland declares war on us!

I reinforce the garrison in Paris

A whole bunch of people declare war on each other. China attacks Korea activating a Mutual Protection Pact I accidentally singed.

Quite frankly this sucks. I’m not ready for war my Industrialization isn’t complete yet.

I get Mongols to declare war on China.

Rome is taken by Germany

Hangchow is taken by Poland

I get Russia and Germany to declare war on Poland

British troops from Australia land in Shngtung

Shangtung.JPG

Wow, a lot seems to be happening! And El Cid is still going strong?

I tried to make give Poland a slightly darker (creamy) white than Spain, but it is hard to find so many different colors. I will give it a try, though.

Am looking forward to the next update!

Pawel, I downloaded and played your scenario (ver. 2.6?), and thoroughly enjoyed it. I played at 1200 AD as England on Daimyo level. I've just now downloaded your latest level (2.7), and am starting a game at 200 BC as France, which I see puts me in West Africa. Two questions:

1) The game shows the date as 1200 BC? Is something off there?

2) I see some other folks on the thread posting their experience, primarily for you fixing bugs and/or tracking the rise/fall of certain civs. Do you still have a need for that?

BTW, I would rate my 1st attempt experience as 9/10, only reserving the 10 because I haven't ever graded any other scenarios. But definitely a blast! I like having lots of other civs to interact with, and the many interesting types of units.

Cheers, alexanddad

:thanx:

I am glad you liked the Rising Sun! It is nice to hear that you're going to give version 2.7 a shot as well.

The reason the first turn is 1000 years is to 'age' certain wonders and other buildings. This gives extra culture and tourist attraction bonuses that otherwise might be difficult to achieve. Unfortunately, on Kal-El's map there is rarely enough space for the French in Europe. To play them might be a challenge...

If you are interested in play testing, I would suggest the new 1500 AD scenario! The experiences of silver 2039 has suggested some interesting changes, which have been incorporated into the attached file (except for the colors). If you haven't tried it before, I would suggest Japan. They have the most new units and other 'specials'!

I just uploaded a slightly updated version of the Rising Sun. I contains all the suggestions mentioned above, including modified colors. Communication trading is delayed until Radio in the 1200 AD and 1500 AD scenarios. Some other, minor, balancing changes were also made to the latter. Enjoy!

I have just posted version 2.71. In addition to the changes above, leader names now display correctly at startup. Also, there have been some balancing changes. These include adjustment of some resource locations. Most European civs, especially them those with new modern units, will now have access to the required resources. Other changes include a stronger starting Russian army and a weaker Mongolia. In all, the game should be even more enjoyable! For people with limited bandwidth, there is now also a mini version without the different terrain options.

silver 2039: it would be great if you find some time next week. Seeing a late game is always fun. Still, the improvements are now so numerous that it would be interesting to see how they play out too!

Chinese forces counterattack outside Shangtung wiping out a Cavalry. A battle ensues between Riders and cavalry with most of our cavalry redlined. The city cannot be taken. We withdraw.

France declares war on us…sigh

I draft to raise some soldiers. This causes riots in a few places.

My army is in a sorry state spread out all over the place.

Bad_Amry.JPG

Revolts ongoing in former France.

Shantung falls to the Indians. Great….

Oh crap Scandinavia declares war on us. Things look grim for the British Empire.

Russians take Hangchow and Koreans burn Anyang

I draft more forces France has shut down due to riots. I assign more entertainers.

The Ottomans declare war on Poland.

Paris continues to riot. This is ridiculous…

I land Cavalry in Tienstein.

Copenhagen has fallen to evil Fascist Polish forces and Xijinag has been burnt.

Rekyjavik in Greenland is taken by the Spanish. The Aztecs take Tikal from the Mayans.
