I hadn't played C3C (from Civ III Complete) for a while and when I tried to start up the game it loaded to a black screen and then simply sat there. The hour glass cursor spun around and nothing happened. The computer wasn't locked up and the task manager didn't have Civ III listed as "Not Responding." The game simply won't load. I haven't changed anything on the computer and have played many hours previously. I tried a reinstall, to no avail. Anyone ever had this problem before? Anything I can do to fix it? I hope I don't have to reinstall Windows or something....

Uninstall-reinstall may clear that up. Just be sure to make copies of your saved games before you do all that.
If you did a massive driver update, you might also want to run some other (free) diagnostic software. I would suggest SpyBot Search and Destory, Spywareblaster, AdAware (full scan), WinASO (Registry cleaner) and then defrag the machine. This will take some time (expect the AdAware full scan to run about an hour) but it can be worth it.

I've had something similar happen to me. Turns out it was my firewall. The latest version update also set some Super Duper Advanced Thinking switch and
