Can a Huge game be sped up?

I started a game on a huge map as I am playing Sid level. Things were moving ok but I am now in the year 1200AD and all land has been colonized. This makes the waiting time for AI moves EXTREMLY long. Is there a feature or d-load I can use to speed up the AI moves so I don't have to wait so long between turns? I have a P4 3ghz with 512 RAM so I don't think it is a performance issue on my part.

Thanks

One thing I tend to do in the later stages of large/huge games is to go into the preferences and turn off the show moves options. This is assuming I'm not at war, not seeing your enemies moves is BAD. Only seeing where non enemies and your own units end up is workable. It does speed things up a lot.

Caps lock? If you haven't been already welcomed, welcome to CFC, both of you.

Oh, and Sid Huge?

For next game, go into the editor and make a scenario disallowing cities in deserts and jungle. This will make the trade network less complicated; less chance of running up against the 512-city limit.
Archipeligo makes for more trade-route complexity (pangea the least complex).

Kill off some enemies. Less factions means less time spent waiting on their turns. ANd whatever you do don't edit the game to increase the OCN.
