Hi,
How do you get the extended game with Civ2 TOT to work? The game always ends with the first to hit Alpha Centauri. I want to be able to colonize AC in Multiplayer mode but can't figure out how to do this? Any help please....

Welcome to CFC, nemesys777! I see this is your first post, so whilst I have your attention, I'll avail myself of an opportunity to suggest you try Civilization II (Classic 2.42 or MGE). Like you I have ToT. But it didn't take long to realize that Civ II really is the way to go, and I uninstalled ToT before completing even one game.

I personally don't know the answer to your question, but since your problem seems to relate to MP also, you might try a post in the Civ II MP Forum, too.

Hope to see you in our GOTM for Civ 2... the Game of the Month. Its a lot of fun.

PS, Civ II classic in just a Jewel case (no big box or manuals) costs less than $10 at discount stores like WalMart (look in the CD kiosks in the back of the software sections :) ).

Do you mean the over-the-net multiplayer or the hotseat all-in-one-place on the same computer type game? It may make a difference. And have you downloaded the patch? I ask becuase there are a few problems with the extended game and arriving at AC. I haven't heard of this one before, but it may be something that the patch corrects.

Personally I don't mind ToT, although I prefer the original game to any of the others.

BTW, I downloaded the patch (1.1 as I recall) and applied it beforehand. But I personally still like the Civ 2 graphics & gameplay & the way Civ 2 terminates. :)

The solution to most extended game problems lies indeed in the v1.1 patch for ToT. :yeah:

Download that, apply it and most of the time it everything should work correctly.
If the problem persists, post here again.

P.S.: The patch is downloadable at the Infogrames support site (www.ina-support.com).
:D

Start a a single player game and save immediatly. Then you can load the game as mutiplayer game when loading and pick your civ. from there.

Thanks for the help. I did already have the patch when I originally posted, but saving the game in single player and restarting as multi-player worked. Thanks again.
