Can I Play Civ6 on High Settings With This?

I've awoken from my slumber for Civ6! I've been playing Civ4 for most of my live, hence the name, and now I'm excited for Civ 6. I didn't get the hang of Civ5 though....

Old member here, only stopped going to the forums ever since.... I can't remember.... because you know.... college.... I'm in masters now.

Anyway I have a new laptop. I've been using it since July this year. I only played Civ5 on this twice, and now since Civ6 has released, I have a feeling that this laptop can run the game in high settings. At least that's what game-debate.com tells me. I need a second opinion. Here are my specs:

Computer: DELL Inspiron 7559
Processor: Core i7-6700HQ 4-Core 2.6GHz
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 960M 4GB
RAM: 8GB

Will this rig run (at least) high setting without any lag or performance problems? If not how can I adjust so I could get the best performance within my rig limits?

Thanks

I am hoping so! I just purchased this same rig just for CIV VI but with 16 GB of RAM and installed a SSD drive. I'm a vet as well been on and off the forums for 10+ years!

I've re-read the system requirements, and it seems I have the recommended RAM

I wasn't concerned about your/my RAM, I'm concerned how our graphic card will hold up!

Civ 6 is a graphic card killer. I have an R9 270X (yes, quite old) and can only play on Medium. Didn't expected it though. But, Medium looks fine. Really fine. So no worries. Even Low is acceptable.

@OP: WIth a GTX 960M i'm pretty sure you have to use low graphic settings.

I find this utterly ridiculous, to be honest.

There is no reason for CIV6 to be a graphics card killer.

Just an update...

I've already started playing the game. Already at 500 or so turns. I used the benchmark tool for my hardware and it did a good job handling 35-40 frames per second at high settings. When I benchmarked my game using Fraps it also did well 30 frames per second.

I've been enjoying it so far.:)

Hey, any updates mate? I'm looking at getting a very similar laptop with the GTX 960M

Have you played late game yet? Do you experience lags when panning on the map, or any other performance losses? What about going to next turn, does that take exceptionally long?

Also, are you playing with normal settings, or have you turned anything down? If so, did you experience, any lags or slow downs?

Appreciate any specifics, it's just that I did a compare video card online with the GTX 960M vs the recommended GTX 750 Ti, and it had significantly poor performance so might look at a desktop instead if Civ isn't great on it.
Thanks,
Tom

Haven't reached the late game yet though. I put my settings on high but I limited the fps to 30 and limited the shadow and reflection settings to a medium. There's an option to do that in the graphics settings. There is some lag, but it's barely noticeable. It does take a while to go to the next turn, but it's probably because I'm playing a huge map with 12 civs.

It probably has to do with the processor? I have a Core i7-6700HQ 4 Core like I said which is beyond the recommended settings.

Cheers! That's helped. Would be awesome if you could post here once you get to late game

I've just finished my game. I haven't experienced lag during the late game, everything is as smooth as the mid game. :)
