Can i run Civ 3 in windowed mode?

As the post says is this possible? My main problem is windows forces the normal size of Civ 3 to a wide screen and it stretches it to be widescreen like my monitor. And when it does this the game looks like crap and is basically unplayable as it hurts the eye. I think this would be solved playing it in windowed mode. Thanks everyone who posts!
