Can not install Ancient Med Mod

extracted file into program/firaxis/civ4/mods.
Then a public map folder is also installed in the mods file.
went to the public maps folder open it and the ancient med map.
system error occurs and says the following.

mods/the ancient med/is an invalid mod directory, ignoring.
I also erased all my previous ancient med mods before I installed the new version.

Sounds like you're doing it the right way. However,
- ask in the forum of the mod authors: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=144716
- download the latest version of the mod there
- make sure your civ is patched properly (v1.61)
- doublecheck the name of the folder, "The Ancient Mediterranean"
- when updating to new version, make sure to update not only the mods folder, but also the new version of the map
- make sure you're not launching an older version of the map with a newer version of the mod and vice versa
- try not launching the game by doubleclicking the map file, instead, start unmodded civ, select ancient med mod from the "advanced" menu
- reinstall game (after uninstalling, make sure to manually delete all civ4 folders)
