can u trade via airfields

i was wondering
if an inland city didn't have an airport but was connected to an airfiel (by a road), would it be connected to a city on another continent with an airfield?

or if you had a colony connected only to an airfield, and your cities had airports, would you recieve that resource?

No, trading between city located on different island/continent can only be done via HARBOR and/or AIRPORT.
Airfield is very usefull for troop transport.

Might be a mere oversight. It does not seem overly logical.

You could rationalize it as Airfields being purely military installations.
