It would be really good if you guys had of put in the option to change the resolution of the game.

I'm stuck with a monitor that can't support over 800x600, and a cruddy laptop that won't go over 1024x768.

my main problem is taht my computer is soo much faster tahn my laptop, and yet i can't display the resolution taht i want.

besides taht is the fact that other people would rather be playing civ III at a higher resolution.

This is one of the many features taht I was disappointed about when I looked at the ystem requirements for civ III.

I shouldn't have had any problems having at least 800x600.

If you have a web counter taht displays what screen resolution people use the majority is between 800x600 and 1024x768.

I would really like to see a patch where diffrent resolutions can be obtained.

Unless some internal policy shift takes place that I'm not aware of, it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that there will ever be an 800x600 patch.

will you make a patch to be able to do that?

Higher resolutions are unofficially supported by using the "KeepRes=1" option in Civilization3.ini, but the only "officially" supported resolution for the game is 1024 x 768 AFAIK.

In the Civilization directory, you'll find a file named "civilization.ini". If you open that file, you can add a line at the end that reads:

keepRes=1

Save that file and you're good.

What that does:
It ties the game to run at the resolution your normal desktop is set at. So if you set your regular destkop to 1600x1200, the game will run at that resolution.

Good luck!

A quick question:
I noticed in the civilization.ini file that a new line had been added to it:

video=1024

So, the obvious question: if I change the 1024 to something like 1152 or 1600 or whatever, will that alter the resolution for the game (as it seems like it should)?
