Can you change a mana node to a new type?

Im playing my first game and got my second node. I figured I see what happens when I get two of the same type.
I made a second Enchantment and decided to change it later. I pillaged the spot but it will only let me rebuild the same type...?
Is a node set in its type once its been tapped for a certain mana?

Thanks

(PS, Loki seems way to good. I get free cities all the time from my neighbors. I dont see how anyone next to the nation thats gets Loki could compete)

(Loki has to enter a city in order to influence it, and he can't do that if the civ is at war with the Balseraphs. If you are next to the Balseraphs and worried about Loki, just declare war on them.)

Alternatively, if Loki is visiting one of your cities, you can kill him there with a hidden nationality unit, a bear should do the trick. Loki cannot withdraw from cities, including your own cities.

Loki can only convert/take over cities that have no culture, so the best "peaceful" solution to a Balseraph neighbor is always sending at least one disciple unit with your settlers, who will upon arrival create a minor great work and give the city some culture, making it immune to instant balseraph takeover. Like that you can instantly work the fat cross too, so it is not a bad tactic.

First you need to research Sorcery. Cost 2000 beakers and is unfortunately rather high in the magic tech tree. Only then you can build a Metamagic Node on a raw Magic Node.
Beside the tech also unlocks Mages which is important too. Only Mages can cast tier 2 spells and Dispel is a tier 2 Metamagics spell. Be advised you can't build Mages. They must be upgraded from a Adept, Imp or Shaman unit of at least level 4.

So my advice, keep one Magic Raw Node in reserve, so you can later build a Metamagics Node on top of it. Also start to crank out early a lot of Adept units so they can acquire experience over time. When I say a lot I mean a lot, unless you are a save and reload guy except quite a few to be stabbed. Have at least 20 so you got replacements ready or a few which haven't specialized yet.

Also take a lot at the manual...

... especially at page 184. There you find a good overview of the different Spell Spheres, and which spell they offer at each tier. Maybe you know already, but when you got several mana from the same type, your arcane caster get the Spell Sphere Promotion for this mana type for free. It make sense to plan ahead which mana type you are going to use. 4 Mana of the same type and you got all promotions up to tier 3 for free, so you can pick a different promotion for your units. I prefer to give my caster Combat, Mobility first and if they go for fireballs/summons Spell Extension too,

Of cause it doesn't matter if have replacements ready and you are playing the demons and someone just build Glory Everlasting. ;)
