Can you recomend me some game like CIV?

An interesting read. While not a huge Horde fan ( sorry :), I like naval powers), this should add some well deserved complications into the mix.

I may just have to go and register on the PI forums, since (IMO) they're apparently upping the ante a bit on the niche games.

My thx Sir :goodjob:

My pleasure. :D

Hopefully they'll be adding some Naval stuff as well. Trade is getting an overhaul I hear. Merchant republics are very fun to play as it is.

Anyway, I am glad some companies are still making games for their hardcore fans. ;)

RoN is an amazing game, it's what CiV would be if it were an RTS. The game is grounded in real tech and policies, is easy to get into and the AI is pretty challenging.

I Agree I STILL kept my original RON disk with Thrones And Patriots expansion....Although RON's expansion did bring back the "over-hyped expansion, not much expanded" Fraxis Civ feeling.

And if Civ 5 used the same graphics interface as RON did it would have been a so much better off strategy game...I remember RON animated HUNDREDS OF UNITS on fully detailed settings with little to none lag.

You could try Elemental: war of magic. The game at release had some issues, but they are now all solved. Not only that, stardock, like paradox, supports and improves their products for a long time. Now that Civ V is not what I expected, I'm back to Civ IV and Elemental.

This thread has suddenly gotten me interested in Elemental - despite the launch issues...

I'm not a huge fantasy game player -- played (and enjoyed) a little of the FFH mod, also adored the AoW series -- but that's pretty much the extent of it.

Anyone played both it and the old AoW? It sounds similar, but perhaps a little more on the 4x and little less RPG (which suits me just fine).

Is there a playable demo?

Try Dominions 3. A deep turn based fantasy strategy game, a bit outdated graphics but the AI is actually quite good, and when you get the hang of it you can do amazingly different strategies each game.

I loved the age of Wonders Trilogy. :goodjob:

It does remind me a little of Age of Wonders as well as Master of Magic. Hopefully Kael will bring some Fall from Heaven influence as well.

It does have the potential to be the greatest 4X Fantasy game of all time. It's still a work in progress now, of course. The game is certainly playable, though. No glaring bugs or crashes for me.

There will be a playable demo that will be released when the version 1.1 patch comes out. It will be released some time in November.

Then you should try AgeOd, which Paradox acquired a while ago (but AFAIK keep their mits well off 'em).
Very good games, but not for the light hearted.
