I've heard of people doing it from PC's but can they do it from a Mac?

edit: Civilization 5, not 4.

What do you mean by "synch", exactly? What are you trying to do?

There is a Civ game for iPad, but it's Civ Revolution, not Civ V.

Some people that have Civ 5 on their PC can synch the game to their iPad, allowing them to play Civ 5 on the iPad. I'm wondering if you can also do it with a Mac.

Old School. You probably are referring to screen mirroring apps. The only one I am familiar with is Air Display. I have used it to "extend" my desktop, but it is capable of mirroring your desktop (the resolution will match the max resolution of the iPad). Have no idea how well it would work for interfacing with a game.

There are several VNC apps for the iPad. I've no idea how well they would work for a graphics-intensive game like Civ5.

I have Parallels for iPad, mainly for accessing my PC virtual machine from the iPad, but it can also display the Mac desktop. It does a good job of displaying a Civ5 screen, but the Civ5 buttons don't seem to respond to taps. It may be a setting I've missed.

How much would air display cost? I'm guessing I'd have to buy it twice, once for the Mac and once for the iPad. BTW my iPad has not come in the mail yet, although I have ordered it.

How much does parallels for the iPad cost?

Air Display is UKP 6.95 (about $10). The Mac end of the connection is a free download.

There are free VNC clients, and OS X has a built-in VNC server to support desktop sharing - look in the sharing preferences.

Parallels for iPad is UKP 2.99 (about $5). But it only works if you have Parallels on your Mac, and that is upwards of $100 unless you find a special deal. I have the iPad app because I have had the main Mac app for years to support my Windows and Unix activities. I only mentioned it as it's the one I've tried following your post - and it didn't work for me.
