Like the subect says, Canada is the only country to send an amry to walk over Washington DC and burn it to the ground... the ONLY nation to do that to the US, just for that, they deserve a special place in my heart and in C3Conquest.

this bellongs in the conquest thread because there is still a large debate about what Civ's should be in C3C. ok, most of the Civs we now know but people are still saying what Civ's they would really like to see. So it should be in this, personally I think the Canadians should be in C3C not just to balance out the whole Northern continent of America but also because the Canadians are quite good people culturally (spelling) so why not? I want the Scots to be in it as well :D :D

Of course the do have alot of other qualities, I would make the Canadians industrial and agricultural. They do produce a whole lot wheat to the world. But again, i'll understand why some people don't want to have it in C3C, what would it's UU be ? A lumberjack worker that cuts forest quickly ? LOL. If Canada is added, alot other people will be complaining about it. If you think of all the civs that will be in c3c, most of the world map will be balanced. Althought the North Pacific coast will be left empty, Australia and Oceania Islands and the Western coast of Africa. I would like to be able to play a C3C game with the world map beign well balanced (This is where Europe will be crammed) but that is how life is. We have come a long way from Civ1, We will soon run out of civilizations to add.

why not el_picaro? a lumberjack UU. a worker with increased stats. 2 movement points or something? lol, or maybe just a quicker worker, that would be cool

.................................................................the war of 1812, the british( with most likely canadian militia ) in revenge for the burning of york

ho... sorry.. 1812 it is then!

you say canadian militia right? That doesn't mean Canada has to take credit for it, or does it? Any way if I am wrong so are the people who write the textbooks downhere in Miami for the public school.

It would be nice to have a scenario for the colinisation of North America;with the Americans, British, the Canadians, the Mexicans, the Québecois, the Spaniards... plus the Native of the land...

Canada was not a nation when the British burned Washington.

No it wasn't. And I can't find any reference to "Canadian militia" in any of the actions of the Potomac campaign leading to the burning of Washington. The British force is always described as consisting of "British regulars and Royal Marines."

so what if canada wasnt a nation, canadians still did it. british did nothing. no offence to any english, but i dont like the british, ofter we helped em with the boer war, they voted on the american side when deciding the treaty of borders of alaska and yukon.

Actually I think Canada would make a pretty good addition to Civ3. I don't think we have to "presume" their militia was involved in the burning of Washington to make a case for them.

I dont see why Canada doesn't get the credit. Sure, They weren't Nationalised, but they did it! Sure, it was technically owned by Great B, and the people were technically british due to that, but they lived in Canada, they had a fairly unique culture to England.

Australia entered the first Olympic games in 1896, and in 1900, IIRC. Technically we weren't a country until 1901, but the competitor(s) still entered as Australians. Sure, we weren't a seperate nation, but we were people with a distinguished culture, identity, and way of life. That is what makes a civilisation.

....However, no one has shown any evidence that they weren't just British marines and regulars, so we can't make any assumptions that they were Canadians (Which were British anyways ;)).

From my understanding it was a British lead team of brits(and others like irsh and scots) who lived(and some raised) in Canada and some native canadians(militia which probably wond up doing the cooking and what not) that went down and burned it to the ground. It's not like Britian up and sent men straight from the British Isles as soon as York was torched to go and torch Washington. Most of the soilders had probably been stationed and trained(or inlisted) on Canadian soil.

As for saying that canada didn't exist so canada shouldn't get the credit........that's a doubled bladed knife. Cause by that saying then no Americans fought in the American War of Independence cause America wasn't a country then, only after the war did it become a country.
