For a 'game' like Spore, the $40 I spent on it feels like the rip-off of the century. This would be a perfect rental, alas we can not rent PC games. The EA pay offs to the gaming sites for all the 9/10 4/5 ratings really worked well, I just hate it when I get burned by sites that I *used* to trust. In reality, this should've been rated at best a 4/10 or 2/5 and that's only from the creature creator, as there's just no game here. I made it as far as the civilization phase and I couldn't stand anymore.

I don't like to rant, but I saw this forum on CF and I had to get it on. :D I need Civ 5 soon...

Lower score, and I barely made it to the Space Stage due to having to design so much stuff. DAMN IT, I HAVE LIMITED IMAGINATION AND PATIENCE TO DESIGN ALL THIS CRAP!!!

That bothered me as well, I only cared about evolving my creature and building the other stuff felt tacked on needlessly. If the game wasn't so dull and boring maybe it would be cool building stuff after a few weeks owning it. They really needed to design the creation tools around the game instead of expecting people to simply not care about anything but the tools.

I am amazed that Spore is still near full retail price now.

$40 at Best Buy.

...Didn´t you see everyone screaming that it was a pure pile of crap? (I would use a ruder word if the Mods would let me).

Actually, I (stupidly) just went out and bought it after a few people said if I liked the Civ series I'd love Spore. Since I played SimCity to death back in the day and the Sims was "decent" I thought I'd at least have a game to play for a month or so. Combine that with the clearly paid-for reviews on gaming sites and there you go.

Yeah its disgusting and I doubt that some of the smaller sites or papers even got payed. They were just scared to write negative stuff about such a failure. Pathetic really. Users rate it 3-4, "pros" rate it 8-9. Talk about some selling their soul.

Gamespot, IGN and Gamespy can :):):):) themselves. I don't even visit those sites if I don't have to.
