Cannot continue LAN 2P game

My friend and I started a LAN game (ethernet cable connection) and were playing fine until he Alt-Tabbed to put on some music.

He disconnected, after which we had no idea how to rejoin. I saved the game and I hosted the save. He tried to join but received an error message explaining that mods/dlc were missing. When selecting the LAN game, the DLC option states yes and is grayed out.

We both only have the Mongol dlc, no mods. I had the Mongol dlc on for this first game.

We started another game without the dlc selected, and this time saved the game to play later. After hosting the new save, he once again he received a missing mods/dlc message. The DLC option still said 'yes' and was gray, even though we had all dlc (Mongols) disabled.

I searched for a solution, tried verifying integrity of game cache on both laptops. We both had 1 file which failed. Reacquired it, but still didn't work.

Checked game cache again and found another failed file (tried several more times with same result). Every check finds a failed file.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this.



TL;DR: Everything works fine until we try to continue a LAN game from a save. Error message states missing mods/dlc although none are used. Cache checks always find 1 failed file.

When you varify, it will only download one corrupted file at a time.

Thanks, I had run the verification several times now, thought it was not working. Guess it's actually just fixing several files. I'll just edit in if this works.

Tried again today
- Reinstalled both games from disc
- Hosted internet game (not LAN)
- Worked
- Friend d/c'ed
- Could rejoin game (game was still running) through steam friend list join option

Then we saved the game, and tried starting it again.
- Exited to menu
- Hosted saved game
- Friend could not join due to missing mods/dlc......

Also, seems like the game cache is broken. Always returns one failed file.

Alright, here's the error message we keep receiving:

"Error joining multiplayer game. Some required DLC/Mods are not installed.

• TXT_KEY_8871E74829A449108C578C99E32D0167_NAME"

Hope this helps someone, since I seriously have no idea how to fix it.

Again, we have no mods, and only dlc is Mongols (disabled for this game though).
