Just cannot find it. I was trying to change my Civ4 sound track with this guide and I can't proceed without the file. What to do? Can someone gimme the file or what now?!

BTW I have several other problems here and didn't get answer to them yet...

There are no files in CustomAssets until you put them there. What you want to do is find the file in your CIV or BTS game folder and copy from the Assets folder the \xml\gameinfo\CIV4EraInfos.xml file into your CustomAssets folder and then modify the copy. There is an "XML" folder in the CustomAssets folder. I don't recall if the "gameinfo" folder is already there in the XML folder or not. If it isn't, then you need to create that folder. Then copy the CIV4EraInfos.xml file into that folder.

It worked!! Thanks a lot mate :worship:!! You could take a look to my other problems in this forum 'cause you was smart enough to help me in this one too ;)!! Thanks.

I took a look at your other two threads.

I know nothing about Linux, so I can't help there.

Although I also have not tried to change a vanilla map to use in BTS, I do recall that someone asked this same type of question in the General forum during the past month or so and got an answer about how to do it. You could search there for that thread or just start a new thread there with your question. Another good place to ask would be in the Creation & Customization forum. That is where the modders hang out. I'm sure that many of them know how to do this.

Bad news sir! My BTS says that it can't load XML files... When I try to open the game I get message: Cannot load XML xxx file. When I press ok there will be a million of similar kind of messages. Don't know if its related to this previous problems. What to do? Any other solution than reinstall the game :(!?

Which OS are you running? Windows 7 can do weird things like this. If it is Windows 7, try right clicking on the CIV exe file and choosing to allow it to run with administrative privileges or as administrator. I don't recall the wording offhand but it will be an obvious choice. This might solve the problem.

I run win7 OS, I gave Civ4 BtS admin rights but the game won't still work. I just get hundreds of XML errors and XML load errors...

You did copy, not move, the file that you wanted to change into CustomAssets, didn't you? CIV loads the stuff from the game folder and then replaces anything it has loaded with any file of the same name that it finds in CustomAssets. If you moved the file instead of copying it then you will get errors when CIV starts up and tries to load the missing file.

AARRGGGHHH!!! Didn't work. I returned EraInfos to assets but didn't work. I have EraInfos in CA and Normal assets now. Edited version is on CA, original on Assets, tried to put edited version to both but it gives me the same XML problem...

Thanks for the tip Noble Zarkon. I'm not sure can it help me since I discovered creepy problem n.759: I reinstalled but XML error still appears !!! How is this possible!?? I thought that I have all the original XMLs in the disc!!! Explain!!! I'm out of options since I can't use the checker program, I'm in coutryside and only my phone's 3G works (posting from phone)..

Easy one - it means something was left behind from the old install. Uninstall again, delete the Civ folders from ~\Documents\My Games, then reinstall to a new location e.g. C:\Civ rather than in My Programs.

Works again. Thanks to all of you, S.Bernbaum, Kiwitt and Noble Zarkon :worship:!
