Cannot hear sound from other programs while playing Civ 6

I play in widowed mode and I do other things while playing Civ usually. Apparently, Civ 6 takes up my audio even when it is not the active window. I can't hear audio from anything else unless I close Civ 6. Any idea what I can do to fix this?

The only thing you can do about it right now (that works for me) is:
Right-click your volume control
Select "Playback Devices"
Usually there's a green checkmark next to the one you use, make another one your default and then make your regular one default again.

Now you should have sound, but you have to repeat the process for each new sound that plays, even if it's just skipping forward in a youtube video or trying to play a new song.
