Cannot load BtS patch 3.03

I cannot load the patch for BtS. I getg an error message saying that BtS is not installed. I try to reload BtS but while installing BtS I get another error message saying that CivIV is not loaded.

I reinstalled CivIV sucessfully. I tried to reinstall BtS but BtS checks CivIV when it installs and believes that the latest version of Civ IV is not loaded. I try and install Civ IV update and Civ IV shows I have the latest version 1.74. When I try and run the patch file for 1.74 the patch fails saying that it is incompatible with version 1.09.

Short of manually removing Civ IV and reinstalling it and then BtS--anyone have any ideas? I had removed Civ IV once before and it takes about an hour just to uninstall it and all its directories.

For 1 don't use patch 3.03 unless you cannot play BtS otherwise - this patch got messed up and does not do any good unless you have issues installing BtS on Vista.
2 I understand you have already uninstalled Vanilla and BtS once - you *should* be able to do with just uninstalling BtS (and all its remnants) and trying to install again.
If that does not help I fear uninstalling Vanilla as well (including the MyGames folders it creates) is the only way to go
