so i buy the game, install it ok, go to play it and i get

Please insert the Correct DVD-ROM, press ok and restart application

so i have 1 DVD, 1 DVD-ROM drive, no copy software like DAEMON tools or clone CD.

theres no NO-CD fixes yet so i can't even try that, no reply from support surprise surprise, anyone had anymore ideas yet?

Same here... I get the feeling this is a British issue (as its DVD) so fairly new and inconsequential to the support people.

It's left me looking for a No-CD fix as well.

thats the feeling i've been left with at they don't even have a european email support lol

USA or Canada, i guess the rest of the world is just there to milk money from

If I can't resolve it by Monday I'll return it and buy again when they get it sorted... hit them in the pocket even though it'll be a ball ache getting it back to Amazon.

Some sort of SNAFU with the copy protection I guess.

hi all
like you i get that cannot locate the DVD-Rom message, when i went into Civ4 support site i got the impression that there should be 2 disks. if any of
you resolve the problem i would be grateful if you could inform me how you
did it

EU release is dvd, US release is 2 cds.

Then, as mentioned elsewhere, look for sd4hide. Even you only have Nero installed, you might be getting safedisc issues.

got rid of nero 7 and it made no difference

my brother has this same problem with Battlefield 2

I had the same problem and checked the site. Many discs were mislabelled. Put the disc NOT labelled "play" in the drive and see if that works. It did for me.

I've sent a mail to Take 2 concerning this "Wrong CD" problem (Note: I have the DVD edition!). I just received the following very helpful answer:

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for contacting Take 2 Technical Support.

Please be sure to delete all previous correspondence when replying. This will help us to process your response in a more timely and efficient manner.

Kind Regards,
Take 2 Technical Support

Well, that's a useful piece of information, isn't it?

I'm located in Denmark, just bought the DVD release, installed on my pc which has no virtual CD software and the like installed, AND i'm getting this problem. Wow, I wonder what kind of quality management could not catch this bug :(

I guess I'm lucky! I have two DVD drives + Nero Burning Rom and had no problem. I make a point of using the first drive in the list to install and play from (Civ disk kept in there semi-permanently), the second drive being a DVD burner I installed a few months ago and hardly used.

Have you guys tried disabling any second drives you may have and/or removing all and letting Windows re-detect them? I don't know if it would help at all but that is something I would try, as well as going on a hunt for updated drivers.

I hope you find a solution to these problems, it must be a real pain.

It won't run if it detects emulation software enabled thanks to safedisc4. I mount images of most of my games as I hate CD's (I buy them all legally so no flaming please, what I do is perfectly legal) but with Civ4 and Dawn of War I have to have the Dvd's in and alcohol/daemon disabled.

I have the smae problem with my UK dvd version.
Simple fix is use alchohol 120% to make an image then mount it and run sd4hide.exe(use google for this)
Game will now run.
Unfortunatley it wont address the gameplay issues thats ultimatly down to the game being rushed for the christmas market.

I too have the UK DVD version, the DVD is the first drive, I have no software running it could object to (that I can think of) and it still fails to recognise the DVD is in the drive :( I phoned Take2 UK support, and after going though all the checks of my system their only solution was to update the Firmware of my DVD drive (already the latest version) or return the game to the shop. Can't try sd4hide as that needs Windows XP and I have ME.

Same problem here

British DVD version I get the same error - I have registered for these forums just to say how totally pissed off I am with this sh1thole of a company (this is not the first problem I have had using my PAID FOR product from Firaxis)

STICKY THIS DAMN THREAD - AND GIVE US A FIX

Just for information - I have downloaded the warez version and guess what......... it works!

So well done dumbasses your copy protection has forced a paying customer into the arms of the warez scene.

Imbeciles

I've also posted in the relevant thread in 'bugs' section, but just to recap, I've tried changing region, disabling my CD drive (got the UK DVD), tried using that hider program, tried someone else's version (same error, though it works on their computer!), tried multiple reinstalling, none of which has worked!

Try using SafeDisc4 Hider, google it, use it at your own risk, it's an EXE.

Mods, like i mentioned in the other thread, delete this if it's against forum policy.

EDIT: Guess people have already tried SD4HIDE, sorry, just ignore this then.
