Cannot raze Alexander's city Sparta?!?!?

WHAT IS THIS? THIS IS MADNESS!

THIS. IS. SPARTA.

I played as shoshone. I cb'rushed Alexander.

I capture Alexander's capital athens. It's a crappy tundra city but it's his capital city so it's ok. He's got tundra deer and salt mines so it's ok.


But Sparta is a truly crappy snow city with about 0 food. Sparta has only 1 iron nearby.

I capture sparta on the next turn but suddenly I'm unable to raze sparta into the ground.

Alexander only had originally 3 cities. Corinth was razed. Athens city screen says that Athens former capital cannot be razed.

Sparta cannot be razed either. Seems like a really annoying bug to me.

Is Sparta a holy city (they made those unrazable)..usually the AI makes its capital its holy city, but if it does otherwise...)

well that's LAME. It was holy city.

If you have your own religion, you can zap Sparta with an inquisitor to extinguish the holy city character. Sparta should then be able to be razed.

You actually don't need your own religion, you just need a city of a Different religion (that has been enhanced)
