Cannot start LAN game

This could be because certain ports are not open.. however when i click multiplayer lan game... start game or join game i get these error messages

network socket could not be created

error network socket errored cannot create game

messaging system unable to open

Is there a port setting in the router that i am unaware of?

I am having the same issue. BTS v. 3.17 on Vista with SP1. Neither my computer or my buddies computer will play a LAN game. All we get is that series of error messages.

its because you arent on a router you are on a hub.. I figured that must be the problem.


The way around it is to play via internet.. thats the only way my buddy and i found around it.

I wouldnt quote me on that i havent tried playing VIA a router..


I just know that before i was on a router and it worked and now im not on a router and we had to play via the internet option in the multiplayer screen..


if you arent on a router and are on a hub i would recommend setting up a GS account (gamespy) and playing over the internet.
