Does anyone know why this ability isn't in C3C? I've got a few cities that aren't doing me any good.

The ability is in C3C, I've done it. I don't know why you can't do it.

ALL cities will do you good, unless the AI are about to take them from you.

Even size 1 cities are usefull :( :crazyeye: ;) , but you can

abandon by right clicking on the city and abandon is at the bottom of the

list of options :D .

I believe the city has to be empty also, could be wrong.

@ Switch- It does not have to be empty, but your units will be standing on
rubble afterwards ;) .

Is there a way to abandon a city of size 2 and get a settler or size 1 and get a worker? A vaguely remember hearing someone say something about the food being negative per turn when you abandon and having the settler/worker as the build. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

yes there is a way.

what you do is get the city to size two, and dont give it any more food. when it finishes the settler, a pop up will ask you to delay production, change production, or abandon city. If you choose abandon city, you get a settler

I think it woul help if the thread starter had a screen shot or discription of some type, so we can properly advise him.
