I have EVERYTHING you need to build ships, but they are never available. I need to know how to because I have built everything else and discovered all research, but I can't build ships. I am positive that I have the materials and research needed. I am also using two trainers if you think that's the problem. Thanks.

For me and stupid things, it would be building up a huge armada of catapults, then sending them to sack a city
I got so confused when "Only combat units can attack cities" came up. I figured they worked like Civ II, and afterwards, put them away.
I built 5 in my current game, but they're tucked away in Kyoto right now. Don't need them anyway, considering the war I've had with Russia is mostly small-scale. were at peace now though, until I get enough Samurai and the 12 gold per turn they're paying me for ivory expires anyway.

Yeah, do not feel bad in the least. I have done some incredibly stupid things throughout my civ playing days, as have most of us when starting. No shame in it, believe me.
I know eh worst thing i did was disbanding a Great Leader...
I got my first GL through a war on chieftain. I moved him to the city i wanted to build forbidden palace in but i couldn't figure out how to rush the forbidden palace. I read somewhere that if you disband a military unit in a city a portion of its shield cost goes into the production of the city... So i disbanded my GL hoping that my forbidden palace will be built .
P.S. i didn't know about autosave so i never got that GL back...
