This will be my first gotm, and I can't find the zip file. I installed all the patches, etc to bring myself current, but can' find the download link. Please help

Seriously, this information is provided to you when you install the the game pack.
It comes up on your screen and you have to click on a button to make the links go away.
There is also a simple text file that gets loaded onto your hard drive as a backup for those players who bypass reading the download instructions that come up in front of you during theg ame setup.
You can find this text file by searching for either "final_v129.txt" or "final_ptw.txt" and then follow the instructions.
We included this text file as sort of a second, last, or final chance option if it is needed.

Ok, I saw the links when I downloaded and did the install, I didn't realize you had to click on them that moment, I assumed there would be a link on the gotm site.
On another note, I just tried to start a new game, and it looks like the graphics are hosed - wheat looks like a shell, and spices look like rubber. whats up with that?

I assume you are running Cv 1.29, not PTW.
In 1.29 you have to switch between resource files when you change from playing the GOTM scenarios to playing standard games.
The instructions, as ever, are in the readme files that come with the downloads. The relevant files are resources.pcx and resources_shadows.pcx and you get separate sets that you swap in and out of folders in a directory called Art\resources storage in your Civ3 software folder.
