Can't get automatic terraforming to work.

I'm having lots of trouble with the automatic terraforming. I've tried both patch 'j' and 'm'. I've tried priest of leaves, yvain and archmages with bloom and vitalize as applicable. With patch 'm', the "Automatic terraforming" button rarely shows up, but when it does, clicking it just makes the unit stand there. With patch 'j' it seemed to work when I could get the button to show up, but the button only showed up on 1 priest of leaves.

Can I do anything to make this work? Is it known to be broken? Planting forests and improving terrain on a huge map is not very fun.
 
I'm pretty sure auto casting was disabled. Iirc, Kael had implemented it but then decided he didn't like it so he took it out.

Are you sure? In CIV4SpellInfos.xml I find:

I also get the "Automatic Terraforming" button.. sometimes:

I really hope it's not supposed to be gone. Terraforming gets boring pretty quickly.
 
Kael never implemented it into Fall from Heaven. It was (and is) part of Wild Mana and other mods, and some of the code got copied over when Kael did the Wild mana merge, but it's not actually available in the game.

I believe the code is only available in Wild Mana and it's own modmodmods; Not aware of any unaffiliated mod that uses it, off the top of my head.
 
Hmmm... I never merged AutoTerraforming from Wildmana into mine. I assumed that function was adopted by vanilla FfH. It might be possible that I merged it unknowingly while merged something else :lol:

Is the screenie you posted from patch f? I don't think you will get a button for it in m. As the others have said, no auto-casting in base FfH now.

auto-terraforming has nothing to do with auto-casting. It was first introduced with patch h. I know that it fully works with Wildmana, if you have problems with patch m you might want to post it in the bug thread.

Small update: I did a clean reinstall of FFH2 w/patch 'm'. The earlier patch I used was 'j', not 'f' (corrected OP). I don't have, and have never had, any other mods installed (not even BtS/vanilla mods). Automatic terraforming is definitely in FFH2, and I can get parts of it to work now.

What works for me: Bloom (priest of leaves), scorch, sanctify and spring. Behavior is a little strange at times, with the unit seemlingly randomly leaving auto-mode, but it's not too bad.

Vitalize does not work for me. I used an archmage and upgraded him to nature 3, nothing else. I made cities on different terrain, but I had no luck with either plains, ice or tundra. I could not get him to cast vitalize even once, even though the "automate" button showed up once he got nature 3.

I reported the issue in the bug thread.
