Can't install BTS in Windows 7

I've been able to install Civ IV vanilla and Warlords in my new system, but not BTS. It aborts, with an error message noting that the patch failed to install, without specifying which patch it's talking about. I am not sure that the abort comes at the same point each time I try to install; some times it gets further along than others.

I am running Windows 7 on 4 Gigs of RAM. I did a clean wipe and install of it, so I don't have remnants of my old Vista system messing things up. I see here some other people have had problems; the one person who fixed hers up sounds a lot more technically sophisticated than I am. I'm not really up to going into my own registry, etc.

I see there's now a patch 3.19 out there. Is that for this? If so, wouldn't one have to install BTS first to be able to install this patch?

try installing the 1.74 and 2.13 patches for civ4 and warlords first (make sure to run them with admin rights) then try installing bts again.

Try deleting or renaming the Installshield folder. It's located in one of the folders under (usually) C:\users\[your name]\appdata\...

Appdata is a hidden file. Please see my Civ/Vista guide in my sig for instructions on how to see it. The instructions in the guide are also good for Win 7 (so far), so if you do the same as what is there, it should work. Remember to elevate privilege (run as admin.)

Thanks, Ori, I did that and it worked. I had to uninstall BTS and reinstall a couple of times because of installation glitches involving Game Spy Comrade and the 3.19 patch, but I uninstalled the former and manually downloaded and installed the latter, and it works fine now. Thanks much! It hadn't previously occurred to me to install the patches on the earlier versions.
