Cant Load Civ 4 on new computer

All works until about halfway through disc 1 then I get an error message. One of the online solutions was to install a patch, but since game is not on my computer yet, the patch won't load either.

Win 7, just purchased computer to play MMOs, and they work great. Just can't load this game.
Error message is-
Feature Transfer Error
Feature-Default Feature
Component-Civ4Component
File-D:\data2.cab
Error-Data Error (cyclic redundadncy check)

Any suggestions?
I have tried to uninstall, but nothing there to uninstall.
Not brightest cookie on computer so plz explain.

Sadly, there is not much help for you . Either the DVD or your DVD drive is broken.
Does the computer maybe have a second drive, with which you could test if the DVD is okay? Or did you already install many things via this drive (if yes, and nothing happened, then it's probably the DVD).

DVD drive works fine run everything else with it.

Thanks for the answer. I do see a tiny groove on CD though all the way around like a ring. Probably where the file that pops up as damaged is. Really didn't see it before you said something. Oh Well, guess I'll have to move up to Civ V then.
