cant open embassy window....??

i seached the forum for embassy in case this has already been answered, but it returned a billion results....

anyway, i have writing, and plenty of cash. i know how to make embassies, but i cant now for some reason. when i click (or double) on the star next to the name in my capital, all it does is move the screen as if ive clicked anywhere.... and i need an embassy with aztec so that i can get right of passage, and kill the darn egyptians!!!!

i have civ3 original PC, ver 1.29f

anyone seen this??

Click the E for Espionage in the info window at the bottom of your main screen.
I thought that the star at the capital was just decorative, does it actually do something?

im quite sure that the "E" thing is what you use after getting embassies/espionage to spy on civs, not to build embassies. to build embassies, youre supposed to double-click on the star, which i suddenly cant seem to do

there is likely a hot key and yes the star is where you click to start embassy--------You might want to try clicking there and make sure its on the star

CTRL-E will also bring up the Espionage screen. Same screen to spy and build embassies folks.

Quite sure or not, try clicking on the "E" and report back.

I think it's shift-E not ctrl-E. Shift commands are usually for things that are part of the game eg Diplomacy, espionage, unit actions etc. whereas ctrl commands are for options and preferences eg save/load, map grid etc.
