Hi everyone, I ran a quick search but didn't see anything on this topic. Has anyone ever not been able to place a start location where they wanted on a map? I wanted to use specific locations but the editor won't let me add them. I can randomly add them, but they only appear in the top half of the map (mostly in the top-left corner). Anyone know what might be happening?

You have to Set Active player then using the overlay choose player starting location. Keep in mind that if you place a starting location for a civ that has attributes of sea fairing on a non coastal tile it will mess things up.

Have you modified the map with MapTweaker before? That causes sometimes some probs.

No, never used that program before. I've discovered that it only happens with the space map I was making to use with NavyDawg's Space Opera. I also can't place start locations on the map that came with that scenario, or if I import the rules to another .biq

Leaven, if you look at the original biq, you'll notice that I couldn't add start locations either. I don't know why, as I've made several scenarios before this one that allowed it.

As it turned out with Space Opera - I didn't need them. That's because each civ has preplaced units all on one tile. Since these units are active right as the game starts, it automatically centers on them.

Thanks, I was afraid it was another symptom of me spilling water on my laptop a little while ago, which has since killed my sound. Strange though, that the .biq won't allow it. It will let me randomly place them sometimes though. Anyway I posted the map in your scenario's thread. Thanks again.

It´s clear that you don´t get the feature of "starting locations" , if you give your civs no starting units.

I had a view in your space map and I think your question is related to that map. Give your civs starting units in the general settings (default)/players setting and you can set starting locations. If you don´t assign these locations to a special civ they are used randomly. ;)
