Can't play after patch

I am getting a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error when I try to load a saved game now. Patch didn't fix anything for me, it just created new problems. Starting to think I should have pirated this game.

Can't even get pass turn 120 with out it freezing my pc. When I try to reload the game via auto-save, I get a run time error.

I deleted all old saves after the patch. I could not open them. I got a run-time error so I figured they were incompatible.

I started a new game, huge world, Warlord, Domination, saved at the beginning, saved after turn 90, saved when I logged out at turn 220. When I try to open any of the saved games I get the run-time error and my monitor powers off. I cannot get it to turn back on and have to hard boot to get them back.

I guess the only alternative is to not turn it off and do a marathon, drink lots of coffee and never exit.

Not a good option IMO.

If this is all about the normal version (for deluxe see the other thread, that's known), then attach a savegame here, so that other people can see, if they have the same problems with the saves.

I have been autosaving every turn for quite some time now. I find that I am getting this runtime error loading saves as well. When that happens I find I can usualy load the autosave from the turn before.

Ok, so my problem was a corrupted file. Ran the file verifier in steam and it deleted and re-downloaded a 22mb file, so far i am not crashing up to turn 115, so hopefully this fixed it for me.

what is the file verifier? where do you download it?

go to the steam library, right click on Civ V on the left side there, go to properties, local files and click on "verify integrity of game cache"

I'm curious if you are able to get pass turn 250. I can only get to around 250 or so before getting a crash. Then the save is corrupted and can't be loaded without another crash. I also ran file verifier but it didn't fix it for me.

Haven't played that long, i got a problem starting new games constantly lol. I'll try to play my new mongol game all the way, standard map, pangea 20civs no CS, constant chaos and war and loving it!

I have tred so many different things to resolve the issue: set all graphics to low, re-installed steam and ciV and c++, verfied file intergirty, defragged, loaded several different save game files, cleared my cache...
STILL NO FIX!!??? IS THERE A fix for this PROBLEM!!!?!?
Anyone??
How about a refund, Firaxis/2k ............

I know several people who are having no problems at all with this game and yet you go on the boards and read about the tons of people who are. Clearly there has to be some common denominator here.

Try clearing the cache: Delete everything in My Documents\My Games\Civ5\Cache and try to load a savegame again.

This happened to my latest game as well, but what's weird is I was playing as the Greeks and now the gamesave info says its the Babylonians! And I certainly didn't buy that.

Every single save is now a CTD (something to do with C++ and DX11) and its really frustrating

In some cases it can help.
It could be, that the patch files are not correctly applied because things are loaded out of the cache, and in such cases deleting the cache helps.

Getting exactly same problem as before patch. game starts locking up around turn 325 on large map. This is on a game I started new after the patch. Week of wasted time.

Still cannot recommend this game as my specs far exceed recommended.
